Malwina Morelewska has designed the interiors of a house near Paris. The 300-square-meter building belongs to Polish investors.

Fruitful cooperation
The investors knew the architect well. First she designed an investment apartment for them in Warsaw. Then another one, in Lublin. So the cooperation went smoothly. In addition, Malwina Morelewska studied in France for some time. So the realities and requirements of that country were not foreign for her. The owners wanted the house to be full of space and light. It was also important to adapt the design to two children, a 5-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter. Already from the entrance we can observe interesting furnishings. In the hallway there is a console in the form of a traditional Singer sewing machine table. It is a souvenir brought from Poland. Loft glass with a black frame separates the hallway from the rest of the interior.

Original furnishings
The spacious living room combines several zones. The highlight of the lounge area is a corner sofa with a chaise longue function, in a beautiful sea shade. It is complemented by designer tables with interesting, massive bodies made of waxed concrete. They have similar shapes, but different sizes, and a soft organic line that contrasts with the raw porous structure of the material. The architect also opted for armchairs with an intriguing form. Their disproportionately flared, slightly overscaled backrests are a deliberate procedure that dynamizes the entire arrangement. The cherry on top is a lamp consisting of three discs in different sizes. Illuminated from below, they look like pendulums that just need to be lightly nudged to set them in motion. In fact, each piece is fixed, but they can be adjusted in height. A large TV hangs against a sinter-lined wall, right next to a minimalist fireplace.

The lounge area is connected to the winter garden. The space is decorated mainly with children in mind, who spend time playing there. A table inspired by old toys has been placed next to the seating area. On its circular base, there are colorful pieces that can be rearranged like blocks placed on a wooden handle. In addition, designer lamps in the shape of monkeys hang from the ceiling.

Right next to it is the dining room. A large table, which can accommodate the whole family and guests, is complemented by upholstered chairs in a shade of soft pink. The space is illuminated by a striking chandelier. Coziness is added by sliding doors. They were made of natural wood decorated with patinated green color.

- The owner really wanted to have shutters on the outside, so I suggested doors on tracks in the living room, which will somewhat relate to them. When needed, they cover the large window in the dining room and the library. They are quite a strong accent in this interior, contrasting with the fine chairs at the table and the white light shelves designed on the same wall — explains the architect.
Smooth wooden floor, raw doors, soft velvet armchairs and fragile glass create a thoughtful play of textures.

Feminine accents
The dining room is separated from the kitchen by a glass door. This keeps the space open, but if necessary, you can separate the annex from the rest of the room. Thanks to this, smells don't spread into the living room. The centerpiece of the kitchen is a large island. Its sides and wide countertop are made of bright sintered tiles. Impressive drawing in the form of gray veins refers to marble. Part of the island, on the side of the living room also plays the role of an additional table. There you will find upholstered hockers, from the same collection as the dining chairs.

The wet zone and the cooking area were designed against the wall. The work surface is illuminated by industrial sconces. A cooktop and a sink are embedded in the lower cabinets. The designer hid large household appliances in the built-in furniture. It features a refrigerator, oven and microwave. Simple black furniture fronts are decorated with jewel-like copper handles. The architect choose not to make traditional upper cabinets, replacing them with a shelf. The owner placed pots with herbs, nicely framed graphics and handy cookbooks on it. The classic black and white arrangement is enlivened by accents of soft pink. This shade appears in the form of the door leading to the pantry and accessories.
- It is the owner's favorite color. Her husband has also become accustomed to the feminine shade, perhaps because there is not too much of it — laughs the designer.
