Not sure how to decorate a mezzanine? We present 5 inspiring projects

Some hate it, others appreciate the range of design possibilities it offers. Decorating a mezzanine can prove to be a real challenge. However, we come to the rescue, showing 5 inspiring projects from top Polish interior designers.

Sleeping by the glow of the setting sun

The two-level apartment is located in Browary Warszawskie. Its interior was designed by Monika Ryszka of Studio Kontent and Kasia Kuźmińska of JEMS Architekci.

- We made several changes to the basic functional layout. Since we like in architecture the possibility of its adaptation to the user's needs, we decided to divide the space into several micro interiors. Depending on your mood or needs, you can integrate these half-spaces more or less between each other. Such a layout allows them to visually interpenetrate while maintaining their autonomy," is how Kasia Kuzminska described her work on the project in an interview with A&B.

The bedroom, located on the mezzanine, is distinguished by its intense orange color. The architects decided on this color because they wanted to create a place where the occupants would feel enveloped in warmth and coziness. The circle on the headboard behind the bed symbolizes the sun. The arrangement is modern, energetic, and breaks the aseismic approach to colors.

With a unique wall

Ewelina Białobrzewska from the studio 4 angles a table 5 designed the interiors in the upstairs and attic parts of the house. The bedroom on the mezzanine is separated from the rest of the apartment by a screen made of braided ropes. This solution has many advantages. It is relatively inexpensive, does not take up a lot of space, you can make it yourself and use different braiding systems, density and sizes of ropes. They are also easy to dismantle.

A fairy-tale space for a child

Jan Sekuła of Zarysy studio created a three-level children's room. On the mezzanine, a sleeping area resembling a tree house was separated. A starry sky was painted on its ceiling, which further enhances the impression of being in nature. On the other hand, a motif of mountains made of plywood appears on one of the walls. Safety is ensured for the toddler by a delicate railing.

Elegant grays

Barbara Godawska of iHome Studio and PRW Design created an elegant bedroom based on muted colors and classic accessories. The wall behind the large bed with an upholstered frame was decorated with delicate stucco. Despite its location on a mezzanine floor, a lot of light enters the bedroom thanks to, among other things, glazing with muntins.

Office with a view

Designating a mezzanine for a bedroom is by far the most popular solution however, of course, not the only one! Designers from MM Architekci studio created an office on it. The home office opens up to the living room, and thanks to glass balustrades the residents can watch what is happening both outside the window and in the living area while working.
