The future house by Wojciech Swiatek of the 55architekci studio is a perfect example of architecture combining minimalism with nature. The modern body fits harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Designed with privacy and proximity to nature in mind, the building takes advantage of the terrain, blending into the gently sloping hillside. The architect shared his thoughts on the design of his own home.

A modern take on a classic
The body of the house refers to a typical shape with a gabled roof, but has modern overtones. Concrete, wood and glass are the main materials used in the design, giving it a raw yet warm aesthetic. The facade of vertically stacked planks blends in perfectly with the forest surroundings, while large glazings open up the interiors to the landscape.
- The concept for our house clarified surprisingly quickly. When, after a long wait for the authority's decision, it turned out that plan-wise we were ready to build, at that moment the number of concepts overwritten with successive letters of the alphabet simply ran out, and quite quickly we managed to formulate what was most important to us," the architect recalls.

A private enclave
An unusual asset of this project is the plot of land on which the house will be located. It is surrounded by forest on three sides, and you can even see a few peaks of the Beskid Wyspowy in the distance.
- This wonderful place is my wife's family plot, and the only thing we waited for years was the approval resulting from the provisions of the local development plan. Having finally got this opportunity, we immediately set to work, well the plot is absolutely unique... surrounded by forest on three sides, while the front is exposed, which gives us a piece of beautiful wild meadow," explains Wojciech Swiatek.

Thoughtful functionality
The heavily glazed facade on the view side accommodates all the bedrooms and the living room. The interior is dominated by simplicity and natural materials, and the layout of the rooms has been planned so that each space has access to natural light and views of nature. An extremely important space is the green atrium, completely open from the clearing on the lower level. It allows greenery and air to enter.
- Large glazing is an essential element to establish this relationship with the environment. Of course, one can take a completely contrarian approach and come up with a house that isolates us from our surroundings in order to force us to actively go out into nature, but with such an uncommonly beautiful environment this would simply be a mistake, says the architect.

A unique place for relaxation
One of the more unusual elements of the project is the swimming pool hidden under the house, partially sunk into the ground. With its glass wall, it creates an intimate, almost organic connection with the surrounding nature, both during the day and in the evening, when residents can admire the starry sky.

A design that blends in with the landscape
The exterior form of the house takes on a unique character after dark. Thanks to subtle backlighting, the block becomes an integral part of the landscape. The house was designed to harmonize with nature, making it a functional place to live. This is an example of a project that proves that modern architecture can coexist with nature, not dominating it, but drawing inspiration from it.
- By working together and implementing the expected solutions, we maintain the fundamental issues of our concept - maintaining a connection with greenery, opening up to a wide view, a distance that has a therapeutic effect, but also participating in a unique, intimate experience, a "touch" contact with nature - notes Wojciech Swiatek.
