Rugs skillfully tie together all the elements of a place. Interior designers use them, especially when they want to juxtapose different colors used in the decor. By choosing the right carpet, we can dramatically change the arrangement - let's see what to follow in the selection to make the room seem larger.

1. carpet size
The key to success in making a room look bigger is to use the right size rug. Avoid placing several smaller rugs instead of one larger size. The exact size of rug that is optimal for a particular room size will depend on several factors, including furniture placement. Ideally, all the furniture in the room should be placed on the rug. If this is not possible, it is a good idea to place on it, at least their front legs. We can also always use a floor covering, stretched from one wall to another. This is a great solution, but when we want to diversify and complete the arrangement an interesting carpet will be a much better option
2 Colors
For small rooms, choose carpets in light colors that match the color of the walls. Light colors reflect light instead of absorbing it, so we can get the impression of a larger and more spacious room. Dark colors tend to absorb light - so a darker-colored rug makes a place seem smaller.

3 Pattern
If you don't want to overwhelm the room too much, be careful with patterned carpets. However, the use of pattern is not forbidden - such additions certainly catch the eye and add variety to the interior. However, if you decide to take these bold steps, make sure that the size of the pattern is appropriately scaled to the size of the room. The typical rule of thumb is - bigger patterns for bigger rooms. However, there are exceptions to this rule, and we must always adapt the pattern to the specific arrangement. A small room with not a lot of furniture may look good against a larger pattern, while a large room with a lot of furniture may require a smaller pattern.
4 - Dividing the space
We know well how helpful it is to separate zones for use - a great example here is the bathroom. However, in the living room or reading room we can also achieve this effect. With the right use of a carpet, you can separate two or even more functions in the rooms - create a prominently outlined reading corner or a relaxation zone with a comfortable sofa. This type of decorating with rugs is perfect for large rooms that need definition, but also works well in studio apartments.
