Magdalena Swierczynska of Studio Podrys designed the interior of a year-round summer house located on a lake. The arrangement combines minimalist forms with inspirations taken from the rural landscape.
Minimalism with a rustic touch
The investors are a pair of lawyers who built the cottage with weekend getaways out of town in mind. With this in mind, they wanted the interiors to be cozy, but also easy to keep clean. They also wanted the design to incorporate inspiration from the rural surroundings. So the goal was to create a timeless, functional interior with elements of rustic and boho style. The cottage features a living area consisting of a kitchenette, dining room and living room, a corridor with an open staircase leading to a usable attic, as well as two bathrooms and a bedroom. The arrangement is based on natural materials and soft, muted colors.

Blue kitchen with dining room
The annex is dominated by delicate pastel shades of blue and golden accents. Capacious L-shaped cabinetry is complemented by a granite countertop. The work zone is illuminated by two black sconces with a geometric form. A farmhouse-style ceramic sink brings a touch of rustic charm. A table made of natural wood, surrounded by white classic chairs, creates a friendly and warm space for shared meals. White cylindrical lamps hang above it, and large windows overlooking the garden further enhance the natural atmosphere of the interior.

Rest area
Large glazing in the lounge area provides contact with the environment and excellent illumination of the space. A comfortable modular sofa in a shade of gray harmonizes with a natural wooden coffee table. It is worth noting the lighting placed here. Lamps made of delicate pleated fabric in a light shade stand out for their unique design, and their gold elements introduce a touch of elegance. An additional source of light is a black wall lamp with an adjustable arm, which serves both a practical and decorative function. It is ideal for reading or spotlighting the space.

Characteristic elements
In the center of the interior is a bookcase with open shelves. The furniture blends with the wall, making the books seem to levitate. Underneath it is placed a simple wooden cabinet that provides plenty of storage space. On the other side is located a blue staircase with a fluted side panel and ash wood treads.

Bedroom in the attic
The bedroom is a realm of calmness and subtlety. The use of light colors made it possible to optically enlarge the space and avoid the impression of heaviness that often accompanies rooms with slanted ceilings. In the center is a bed with a rattan headboard. The furniture was placed where the ceiling height is the highest. This emphasizes the symmetry of the interior and ensures comfortable use. Soft bedding in pastel colors and pink decorative accents make the room exude warmth and softness. Natural light streaming in through the roof window, the woven lamp shade and the visible ceiling beams add to the rustic charm of the interior.

Bathroom with slants
The walls were covered halfway with white subway tiles. This protects the surface from splashing, but at the same time avoids overwhelming the small bathroom. On the other hand, tiles with a terrazo motif were placed on the floor. This interesting combination of different facings gives character to the whole arrangement. A freestanding bath tub with rounded shapes introduces modern elegance, while gold accessories add a luxurious touch. A wooden cabinet under the sink warms the bathroom and harmoniously fits into the arrangement. The space under the bevel has been developed into storage space. The minimalist cabinetry consists of a number of cabinets, drawers and even an open shelf, so the occupants can fit all the necessary items.

Greenery in the bathroom
The second bathroom is simple but elegant. The gold faucet stands out against the bright tiles, adding a luxurious touch to the interior. The green of the walls adds freshness to the overall look, while the wooden fronts of the cabinets introduce natural warmth. The walk-in shower was made almost exclusively of a glass wall. This minimalist design blends in with the rest of the interior and optically enlarges the room. It is worth noting the decorative tiles on the floor. The geometric pattern adds character, at the same time the classic color scheme does not disturb the harmony of the arrangement.
