The unique 1,000-square-meter house is located on the banks of the Narew River. Paweł Jurkiewicz created the arrangement of its interiors for about 18 months.

Design challenge
The glazed architecture allows you to enjoy the view of the river and surrounding nature from every room in the house. At the same time, it poses a challenge in creating interiors that are warm and friendly — far from the minimalist expression of the building. Paweł Jurkiewicz knew that to achieve this effect he had to use a variety of textures, materials, forms and soft textiles for the arrangement. These elements are also balanced by the expanses of natural stones used on the floors and walls.
This timeless, eclectic space was meant to draw handfuls from the best solutions of past decades by combining them with new technologies. Indeed, investors didn't want to be limited to a particular style, but to play with the juxtaposition of unobvious choices instead. The aesthetics of the place were to be expressed through attention to detail, quality of materials and consistency in realizing of their vision.

Personal character
The house was not only supposed to be a place of the highest quality design, but above all a comfortable, intimate space for spending everyday moments with family and friends.
-Functions of individual spaces and the furniture in them were to follow the habits and rituals of future users. We didn't simply want a space cluttered with furniture with no useful function - describes Paweł Jurkiewicz.

In harmony with nature
The house includes spacious living rooms with an open kitchen and dining room, a recreational area with a swimming pool, gym and sauna, and private areas hiding a secluded study, as well as a bedroom combined with a bathroom and dressing room. Guest rooms are housed in a glass cubicle on the first floor. Each of the rooms has automatically controlled glass panes that, when pushed back, allow the interior to connect to the terrace and garden. The summer lounge and pool area can be completely opened up to the outdoors with windows hidden in the walls, making these spaces an integral part of the surrounding landscape.

Quality materials
The entire house is filled with authentic, luxurious materials. The fixtures, which are the jewelry of the interior, are made of special 316 steel in warm brass. Meanwhile, the stone monolithic freestanding sink was carved from a single block of marble.
The same material can be found in the kitchen with an island. There, a black-and-white variety called panda white was used. Hockers standing by the kitchen island are inspired by Tobias Scarpa 's work from the late 1950s and early 1960s. As many as six types of stone were used to create the cylindrical legs of the dining table. It is complemented by an oak top. A chandelier with round blown glass shades hangs above the furniture. The chairs set atop the table are a 1966 design by Warren Platner. Their polished nickel frame was complemented by a velour seat and back.

The distinctive swivel arm chairs were finished in kiwi-skin colored nubuck. Meanwhile the spacious sofa was upholstered with a light fabric with a thick weave. The dresser, which separates the lounge from the table, was dressed in brass with a burnished platino finish. Ceramic vases and a brass sculpture by Christopher Renes stand on it. The entire room is warmed by flowing wool curtains and silk-blend carpets, which arrived on special order from Nepal. Most of the built-ins were custom-made, using dark oak veneers with a semi-matte finish. In both living rooms and bedrooms there are two-meter long bio-fireplaces, which add to the coziness of the interior. By the bedside, you'll additionally find lamps with milky, mushroom-shaped glass shades.

The art of choice
During the design process, the architect and investors viewed all finishing materials on site, in the target light and context. They checked how all the textures, colors and materials that were to be included in the interior looked in relation to each other. Both the selection of finished furniture and its finishes, were well thought out. Paweł Jurkiewicz and his clients checked all forms, the quality of the furniture's workmanship and the comfort of its use in the flagship showrooms in Milan and Warsaw.
- Some items were love at first sight and it was clear that they had to appear in the interior — recalls the architect.

This was the case, for example, with an armchair covered with Mongolian white fur. The furniture stands in the bedroom right next to the stone fireplace. Meanwhile, other choices, took time and getting used to. From Italian factories came, with few exceptions, all the furnishings. Design from that country is particularly close to interior designer and homeowner Beata, who lived in Italy for years and began to spread Italian designer brands in Poland.
Modern solutions
Top-quality craftsmanship and design are complemented by the latest technologies. All appliances and systems are managed by a single controlling program. Using it, we can remotely control air temperature, windows, lighting, curtains, sound system, monitoring and televisions. You don't need many different remote controls and devices for this. You can make any changes with a phone or tablet, from anywhere on earth.
