"10 Questions to an Interior Designer" is a series of short talks inspired by the series "10 Questions to...".This time our attention is turned to interior architects. In today's episode, Ines Lulkowska talks about her approach to design.
Ines Lulkowska - graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Cracow University of Technology. However, the interiors of buildings have always been closer to her. In 2018, she founded a business with an interior design profile, although she gained experience in this field while still in college. She designs high-end residential and commercial interiors, but also furniture and decorative objects. In addition to her love of beauty, she attaches great importance to the creative process itself. Author's supervision and eyewitness insight into the realization of assumptions are her favorite part of the project.
1 A house is for me...
Just like everything else in the universe, a house has its own symbolism. Because of its layout, because of its layers. Home is me, my body and all my interior. Living consciously and attentively, we are able to see how it can speak to us, if only with our inner conflicts. Take the tension off of us or wrap us in peace. That's why I see my home as a sensitive and attentive part of myself. Harmonious, tender, delicate.
2 The key to successful interior design is.
Authenticity, attention to detail, quality workmanship.
3. inspiration I look for...
Once mainly in Italy, today I appreciate Polish craftsmanship and art more.
4. In cooperation with the investor, the most important thing is...
Trust and mutual respect. In addition to the interpersonal one, it is also trust in the skills, competence and quality that the designer brings to the space of the designed house.
5 My favorite design style is....
Staying true to the qualities of natural raw materials, the density of stone, the soothing smell of wood, the softness of wool and cashmere or the sensuality of leather, I value and create interiors that are authentic. Perfect detail, simple form, timeless materials. This is how I design.
6 The most important object in my home is.
Handicrafts. I believe that in the space of the home there should be a dialogue between design, art and life. As they are juxtaposed and brought together, the boundaries between them will begin to blur. Interiors filled with handicrafts are in constant motion, adaptation. Energy is constantly being fed and infused with the myriad sensory impressions that come from these sources. These elements dance their own unique dance, making the interior as unique as each person inhabiting it.
7 The most common mistake in interior design on its own is.
Lack of imagination. Ignorance of how much talent, know-how and work goes into the final interior seen on the Internet or in magazines. I think a lot of it is about appreciation.
8 My favorite material is.
Still stone. I am very moved by what beauty the earth gives birth to.
9.A trend I wish would pass away already is....
I will admit that I am very selective about everything around me. I try to focus my attention and energy only on what feeds my soul. If I come across something that doesn't resonate with me, I scroll on. And it can last.
10 I would like, someday, to live in....
A place full of year-round sunshine.
