Cat, sauna and rustic elements - a unique interior with an eclectic character

The interior design studio of Malwina Morelewska was approached by a client who decided to completely change the interior of her apartment. The reason for the change was that her son had left home and she wanted to adapt his room for new functions. In the end, the entire interior underwent a great modification.

change of function and character

The apartment received a completely new look. The architect and the client decided on the dominance of white broken by wood. Unique is the floor made of smoked oak, which gives the interior a rustic and natural character. It was also important to emphasize that it is a real plank and not a panel.

Thekitchen, bedroom and study remained in their places, but the functional layout of the whole has undergone significant changes. We did quite a lot of demolition," the designer recalls today. - In order to create a large, open living area in the apartment, the wall separating the kitchen from the living room disappeared. But not only that. Where the TV set can be seen today, there was originally a small room, with an entrance from the corridor on the other side. Incorporating this space into the living room at the same time made it possible to remove a door that was no longer needed and enlarge the bathroom. As a result, a small sauna could be created there," sums up the work on changing the layout by architect Malwina Morelewska.

creating a place for recreation

Enlarging and opening up the living room to the rest of the apartment allowed to unleash its recreational potential. Massive anthracite-colored furniture was placed next to the hallway, allowing for ample storage. The pouffe and sofa were kept in black tones. The dining room was organized in a different way. The table, referring to Scandinavian minimalism, is light and wooden. It is matched with chairs in two color variants - black and natural wood color.

An interesting solution was proposed on the wall, where the TV was placed. Above it appeared a special place special platforms for the cat, which can climb up the rungs.

merging with the living room - the kitchen

Minimalism reigns in this part. From the living room and dining room, the kitchen area was separated by an island. Above all, wood combined with white contrasts with the soft grays of the living room. Grey tiles were decided on the floor. Opening to the living room limited some of the cabinets, which was balanced precisely by the island, which allows to store some of the kitchen appliances and accessories.

a unique dream in the bathroom

The bathroom contains something we wouldn't expect in a Warsaw apartment - a sauna. This solution was tailored to the investor's special request.

This is the client's dream come true. It was realized when, after changes in the layout of the apartment, a fragment of the corridor near the bedroom could enter the bathroom. But still there would not be enough space for a stove here. So I suggested an infrared mini-sun, simpler to install - especially in a multifamily building. I know from the client that it works perfectly," says Malwina Morelewska.

Wooden elements were balanced by the grays seen in the bathroom's built-ins. Tiles kept in gray-dark colors are the king here. Light diffusion is also important.
