The subject of the thesis is the design of a canteen located in a building at 11 Św. Rocha Street in Poznań. The scope of the designed space is the first floor with the entrance area and part of the second floor, where the canteen is located. The functional design envisages spaces for dining and work or study areas, both individual and collaborative.

Harmonious and ergonomic spaces have been designed, prepared to eat in, conducive to concentration and creativity. Paying special attention to the principles of universal design, we have eliminated architectural barriers that could be an obstacle for people with disabilities.

The interior design emphasizes important structural elements of the building, such as columns and stringers, which introduce rhythm and clear division of space. The stylization refers to the modernist character of the building, complemented by a leading color that harmonizes with the visual identity of Poznan University of Technology. The well-thought-out division into functional zones allows for optimal use of the facility's potential. Each area has its own function, which facilitates orientation and promotes the efficiency and comfort of the space - the canteen becomes a place not only for eating, but also for meetings, work and relaxation.

In the process of designing a harmonious space, the balance and rhythm of the various elements that make up the interior are crucial. This introduces a static composition without distracting the user. The most comfortable to the eye, in the current discernment of culture and our geographic location, is the division of the section in the ratio a/b=1.6, which can be approximated to a relationship equal to 3:2. This is also how the veneered panels and those of stainless steel located on the walls in each room were divided. They form a background for the arranged space corresponding to the everyday scenery, i.e. furniture, floor, ceiling, also people gathering in the rooms. The selection of individual design elements, fits in with the way our eyesight can determine the relationship of two colors.

In the design, the combination of blue on a gray background is common, which gives the image of a slightly greenish structure, which we can notice in the tarnish color of steel, which is the material of furniture or wall panels. The selection of both materials and furniture was complemented by the author's designs and details. To maintain consistency in the concept of each room, a division into three main colors was used. Gray - as a subdued base for flat surfaces, such as the ceiling, floor or part of the walls (also as details finished in steel or aluminum, but distinguished by a different way of reflecting light from the surface of the object). Blue - emphasizing the construction of stringers and columns, also details smaller furniture, chairs, poufs or tables at sofas. Yellow - which is a break in the cool, uniform in temperature, being a complementary color to blue. It is visible in the structure of semi-transparent partitions. The colors are selected in a ratio of 6:3:1 for gray, blue, yellow.

By taking these parameters, you can feel harmony and balance in the interior. In order to give the interior a more industrial character and optically widen the vertical lines of the room, the suspended ceiling covering installations, including room ventilation, was removed.
