        The Municipality of the City of Rzeszow, in cooperation with the Association of Polish Architects Branch Rzeszow, is organizing a competition for the design of a complex of cultural facilities New Library. According to the ambition of the competition organizers, it is to be the best library in the world!

        objective

        The purpose of the competition is to obtain the best concept in terms of urban planning, architecture, space and functional-utility of the complex of cultural facilities of the New Library for the Municipality of the City of Rzeszow.

        The proposed solution should create a space organized around culture, well-connected with the city center, designed to activate the residents of the city and the region to actively participate in organized cultural activities, offering inspiring spatial conditions for the implementation of these activities.

        terms and conditions

        The competition is an implementation competition, limited, two-stage.

        The competition concerns the largest investment dedicated to culture in the history of the city of Rzeszow and the Subcarpathian province. Its subject is the urban and architectural concept of the New Library complex together with the development of the space in its immediate vicinity. Those who take part in the competition are also expected to present conceptual solutions for land development in the study area delineated by Piłsudskiego, Cieplińskiego, Jałowy and Towarnickiego streets.

        The New Library will consist of a Library Part (the Provincial and Municipal Public Library run jointly by the Subcarpathian Regional Government and the Municipality of the City of Rzeszow), an Event Part (run by the Municipality of the City of Rzeszow) and a Common Part connecting them.

        The two institutions will be separately managed and separately financed. For these reasons and due to their different ways of functioning, as well as the possible phasing of the investment, their spatial and functional separateness is assumed. At the same time, a partial merger of the two institutions is assumed, aimed at optimizing costs and enabling cooperation by complementing each other's programmatic and spatial offer.

            Architectural and urban planning competition for the design of the State Archives in Piotrkow Trybunalski

            organizer: State Archive in Piotrkow Trybunalski, A2P2 architecture & planning

            The State Archive in Piotrkow Trybunalski, in cooperation with A2P2 architecture & planning, has announced a competition for the development of an architectural concept with land development for an investment involving the construction of a new building of the State Archive in Piotrkow Trybunalski at 10 Batorego Street in Piotrkow Trybunalski.

            The State Archive in Piotrkow Trybun alski, in cooperation with A2P2 architecture & planning, has announced a competition for the development of an architectural concept with land development for an investment involving the construction of a new building for the State Archive in Piotrkow Trybunalski at 10 Batorego Street in Piotrkow Trybunalski.

            purpose

            The purpose of the competition is to obtain an architectural concept for the Archive building - a facility combining the following functions: storage with facilities, access to the collection, office, exhibition and educational functions, along with the necessary facilities.
            The solutions should combine the highest architectural and functional quality with mitigation and adaptation to climate change and principles of a closed-loop economy. The Archive building is to be efficient, throughout its life cycle, economically, technically, environmentally and socially. The Archive building should not be generic or anonymous, but relate to the historical context of downtown Piotrkow Trybunalski, a royal, parliamentary and tribunal city.

            As institutions open to the public, the State Archives are obliged to take into account the needs of all users, including those with special requirements. The design of the new edifice should be based on the principle of universal design, integrating modern solutions that will ensure accessibility for people with limited mobility and diverse perceptual needs.

            The essence of the archive's activity is its resource - archives, which must be properly protected. It is crucial to ensure proper storage conditions, such as adequate temperature, humidity and air quality in specialized storage facilities. Access to the resources should be strictly controlled and limited to authorized persons only. Secure archival storage facilities for perpetual preservation are the basis of operations.

            The designed building should reflect the mission, stature and function of the National Archives, while being a space that encourages visitors to visit and use the collected resources. The key features of the facility must be aesthetics, durability, modernity and simplicity, which work harmoniously with openness, friendliness and full accessibility to create an inclusive and representative space.
            The building's surroundings should be designed as a well-used public space that will be a place that is frequented by both residents and users of the archival resource.

            terms and conditions

            The competition is an implementation competition, limited, two-stage.

            To the second stage five teams will be qualified (reimbursement of the cost of participation in the second stage 17.5 thousand zlotys). The budget for implementation (including design documentation and demolition work) is PLN 137,600,000.00 gross, and the remuneration for design documentation - 5.11% of the value of construction work.

            Study studies and competition works will be evaluated according to the relevance and attractiveness of design solutions, functionality of the proposed solutions, as well as operational advantages, economy of solutions and pro-environmental solutions.

            When shaping the body of the Archive, the aim should be to achieve a simple structural layout . The Archive should be designed as a highly energy-efficient and zero-emission building, environmentally friendly, provide high user comfort, and reasonably minimize the built-in and operational carbon footprint. The Archives building is to have low maintenance costs and minimized energy consumption, using technology, energy-efficient materials and equipment, and renewable energy sources. The building is to meet accessibility requirements for people with disabilities and special needs.

                Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the Poznań branch of SARP have announced an urban planning and architectural competition of a study and implementation nature for the design of the "Jowita" Student House with accompanying functions.

                purpose

                The purpose of the competition is to obtain the best urban planning, architectural and functional-utility concept for the development of the plots belonging to the investor, including design decisions for the reconstruction or construction of the Student House "Jowita" together with land development.

                terms and conditions

                The competition is an implementation competition, limited, two-stage.

                The Modernist Student House "Jowita" in Poznań is located on Zwierzyniecka Street. In 2023, the Adam Mickiewicz University authorities decided to close and sell the dormitory, it was met with protests from the student community. The Student House was closed due to serious concerns about its technical condition, including fire safety issues. Building and fire expertise indicated the need for extensive renovation to bring the building up to current safety standards.

                The target task of the competition is to select the best competition entry, which, in addition to the investor's requirements, will meet the requirements of the Building Law and the Technical Conditions regarding fire safety, structural safety, safety of use, appropriate hygienic and health conditions, environmental protection, energy conservation and thermal insulation, protection against noise and vibration, and adequate accessibility for people with special needs.

                In addition to student rooms (the target number of beds is 300) in the development area, the developer expects to locate:
                - Student and doctoral activity center;
                - Study, work, recreation zone;
                - Administrative zone;
                - Technical and storage zone;
                - Commercial zone;

                The first stage of the competition - urbanistic, study, programmatic, includes primarily the investor's plots, but also, as an overview, the zone around the study areas - urban lagging. The design theme of this stage is:

                • proposing urban planning solutions on the investor's plots, determining the nature of the architecture and the basic volumes of the proposed buildings;
                • design decisions on existing buildings - student house "Jowita" and canteen (reconstruction, expansion, superstructure, construction of facilities);
                • Determination of the complementary functional program for selected volumes.

                Stage II of the competition - architectural, implementation. Its design subject is the architectural and urban planning concept of the buildings together with the concept of land development.

                      The City of Oswiecim, together with the Association of Polish Architects, Krakow Branch, has announced a competition for the design of the building of the City Hall in Oswiecim, which will move from its former location at the Oswiecim market square.

                      The City of Oswiecim, together with the Association of Polish Architects, Krakow Branch, has announced a competition for the design of the building of the City Hall in Oswiecim, which will move from its former location at the Oswiecim market square.

                      purpose

                      As we read in the regulations, the purpose of the competition is to obtain the best architectural concept of the Town Hall in Oświęcim in terms of architecture, space and functionality and use. The guidelines contained in the Regulations of the competition should be treated as recommended, so deviations from these guidelines are allowed, as long as they are reasonably justified.
                      The area under study is located in the central part of the city, between Generała Jarosława Dąbrowskiego Street on the south side and Żwirki i Wigury Street on the north side. The square is currently part of the city market, and is surrounded on the north, west and south sides by diverse buildings, with a predominantly residential function.
                      Among the evaluation criteria are the attractiveness of the proposed solutions, the functional-utility efficiency of the designed building, optimization for investment or the use of the principles of inclusiveness and ecology.

                      terms and conditions

                      The competition for the architectural concept of the Town Hall in Oswiecim is an implementation competition, limited and two-stage.
                      In the first stage, participants will be tasked with presenting a study in the form of two boards, a descriptive part (up to 6 pages) and an identification card. Those who qualify for the second stage will prepare a study paper, consisting of up to 6 charts, up to 12 pages of descriptive part and an identification card.
                      The designed building is to be representative in character and not lower than four stories above ground. As we read in the regulations, the foreground of the building should be characterized by high representative qualities, and the building itself should have a modern body, being a showcase of the developing city. The designed building of the City Hall should have all the rooms necessary for the functioning of a local government facility, including administrative rooms, the City Council, the Registrar's Office and those intended for the City Guard.
                      One of the competition tasks is the rational optimization of the space and program in terms of the investment budget, as well as the appropriate selection of areas for the various spaces in the above context, and the maximum cost of implementation should close to PLN 46,750,000 gross.

                          The area of the competition study is located in downtown Katowice, at 44 Raciorska Street, in an area of fairly dense frontage development, in a quarter with a predominance of residential buildings and constitutes, together with the neighboring plot, the missing link in the closing of the quarter. There is no local zoning plan in effect for the competition study area.

                          In the area of the competition study there is a garage and utility building extended and superstructure to serve as a service and residential building in its shell. The construction, carried out by a private investor, lasted from 2015-17 for use as a recording studio. Currently, the Academy of Fine Arts has become the owner of the site. The existing facility significantly deviates from the needs and expectations of the Employer, and its adaptation would involve far-reaching spatial changes, which is uneconomical and technically unjustified. In view of the impossibility of more rational adaptation to the new function, the decision was made to completely demolish the current facility.

                          terms and conditions

                          The competition is an implementation competition, limited, one-stage.

                          Due to the development of the university and student interest in new fields of study, it has become necessary to expand the ASP campus with new teaching facilities. The resulting space will serve students, but also as a field for exchange with external stakeholders - entrepreneurs, local government units, cultural institutions, etc. The teaching and research activities carried out in the building will allow the implementation of high-level research and projects, including those with a significant impact on improving living conditions.

                          The designed building should, by its architectural form and the building materials used, strive to maintain spatial order.The Academy's goal is to construct an energy-efficient building equipped with modern installations that meet environmental standards, designed in accordance with the principles of universal design, sustainable development, inclusive and fully accessible to all users, including those with special needs. This investment also envisages solutions using passive building elements (e.g., passive windows, roller shutters) and the use of technologies to improve the automatic control of equipment in the building. Indications for the use of the above elements will be analyzed at the design stage. It is also assumed that a green roof and terrace will be created, combining ecological and didactic aspects, as well as taking into account the guidelines of a closed-loop economy .

                                          The Bureau of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the Warsaw City Hall, on behalf of the President of the City of Warsaw, has announced a competition for the architectural concept of a skating track hall and two ice halls for the Stegny Center in Warsaw's Mokotow district.

                                          purpose

                                          The purpose of the competition is to select the best concept in terms of architecture, functionality and usability of the sports facilities and development of the area included in the scope of the study.
                                          The subject of the competition is to create a design for the Stegny Center in Warsaw for a skating track hall (with a capacity of stands of 4,500 seats, with two rinks inside the track, training and administrative facilities) and two ice halls (for ice hockey, figure skating and short-track with a capacity of stands of 1,500 seats and a training hall for ice hockey, figure skating, withthree curling lanes), as well as a concept for the development of the site (including, among other things, an internal road with parking spaces, entrances from Pory and Lesna Jezyna streets, a plaza for a minimum of two transmission vehicles, an urban roller skating track with a length of about 800 meters, with a green area, a recreational area with an outdoor gym, a roller skating track with an indoor field for roller field hockey, and the reconstruction of the middle section of Pory Street with the construction of parking spaces).

                                          terms and conditions

                                          The competition is an implementation competition, limited, one-stage.

                                          In the area of the study there is currently a track designed by Janusz Kalbarczyk, which was put into operation in 1980. The architects responsible for the entire complex, which also included two buildings, were Elżbieta Jankowska (chief architect), Czesław Molenda, Andrzej Ryba, Zbigniew Cis-Bankiewicz and Franciszek Ukleja of the "Stolica" Municipal Construction Design Bureau. Unfortunately, the existing facilities and infrastructure, due to their technical condition, are slated for demolition.

                                          The competition concept, in addition to being in accordance with the provisions of the Local Spatial Development Plan for the area of the intersection of Sikorskiego and Sobieskiego Streets, must also comply with the requirements of the ISU federation (in accordance with the INTERNATIONAL SKATING UNION SPECIAL REGULATIONS & TECHNICAL RULES SPEED SKATING 2024), the Polish Speed Skating Federation, as well as meet the requirements of the IIHF contained in the IIHF Official Rule Book 2024/25.

                                          The concepts will be judged by their attractiveness and functionality, the selection of architectural form for the function of the facilities and the integration of the facilities into the surroundings. Also important in the evaluation of the works will be compliance with the recommended guidelines, feasibility of implementation, the economics of the proposed solutions and the economics of use, as well as the maximum planned cost of the work implemented on the basis of the competition work, in relation to the attractiveness of the solutions obtained and the economics of use. The use of solutions that reduce the operation of the investment and reduce noise will be promoted.

                                          For more information, see the competition regulations

                                                  goal

                                                  The Czyżyny campus of Krakow University of Technology is the university's largest campus, covering nearly 55 hectares. The faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Physics have their headquarters here, and a seat for the Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunications is also planned. Also located on the campus are research laboratories, sports halls, a student housing complex and an assistant's house.
                                                  As the organizers write, the goal of the competition is not to implement the concepts presented in it, but to open minds and generate discussion about the university campus of the future. Thus, the innovation of the concept is important, students can propose such solutions that not only meet the needs of the current academic community and residents of Krakow, but also anticipate these needs in the future.
                                                  The space is to be not only functional, but also become a symbol of modern Krakow. As the competition organizers point out, the eventual new buildings are to be not just technical structures, but true works of art that will go down in architectural history.

                                                  The competition assumes that the concepts will integrate academic and urban users in an equivalent manner using modern trends in the design of public spaces. The designs are also to be flexible in terms of functionality, thus accommodating a variety of uses of academic space.

                                                                        The Wadowice Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Cracow branch of the Association of Polish Architects, has announced a competition to develop a concept for the expansion and reconstruction of the existing facility located in the central part of Wadowice, at the intersection of Teatralna and Henryk Sienkiewicza streets.

                                                                        The Wadowice Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Cracow branch of the Association of Polish Architects, has announced a competition to develop a concept for the expansion and reconstruction of the existing facility located in the central part of Wadowice, at the intersection of Teatralna and Henryk Sienkiewicza streets.

                                                                        purpose

                                                                        The purpose of the competition is to obtain the best solution for the expansion and reconstruction of the Wadowice Cultural Center. As we read in the regulations, the task set for the participants is to develop a suitable object and inscribe it in the character and tissue of Wadowice. The proposed architectural and urban planning solutions should take into account the tradition and rank of the place, its role in the scale of the city and the region, as well as the rank of the designed object and the values it should bring.

                                                                        terms and conditions

                                                                        The competition is an implementation competition, limited, one-stage.

                                                                        The Wadowice Cultural Center aspires to be an important meeting place in the city: residents among themselves and "meetings with art" in its most diverse manifestations. The idea of the competition is therefore to find an attractive formula for a multifunctional center.

                                                                        The existing WCK building is in a relatively good technical condition, but the calculations and the conclusion of the structural expert's report urge total replacement of the building substance. It is possible, and even advisable, to radically interfere with the existing building substance, with only the facade being preserved.

                                                                        For more information, see the competition regulations

The architecture should support the right to education and well-being, provide a space whose functionality goes beyond education, integrates, offers opportunities for play, socialization and exploration, and will serve as a focal point for the entire community.
