The "House Full of Dance" project by Paulina Morawska of the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology is a concept for a modern dance school located in the heart of Nowa Huta, right by the Nowa Huta Reservoir. The idea was born in response to the growing need to develop recreational functions in this dynamically changing area. The goal of the project was to create a space that fits naturally into the neighborhood, combining educational with recreational and artistic functions.

Nowa Huta as inspiration
The designed dance school refers to the historical character of the Nowa Huta Reservoir, which was once a place for meetings, parties and dances. In this context, the new school is intended to serve a social and cultural function, enriching the recreational offer of the site. The facility fits in with the vision of Nowa Huta as a modern space, but also one that is open to the social traditions of dancing and spending time together.

flexible space in the service of dance
The main idea of the project is to create a space that allows both daily dance classes and the organization of larger events. The use of mobile walls makes it possible to freely change the layout of the dance rooms, as well as to combine them into one large space. Thanks to such flexibility, it is possible to organize intimate lessons, as well as performances, dance competitions and special events. Another added value is the fold-out stage and mobile auditorium, which makes it possible to organize artistic events of various formats.

The design of the dance school also takes into account health and environmental aspects to improve the quality of life for users. In accordance with WELL certification guidelines, the building was designed with the health, comfort and well-being of the occupants/residents in mind. The building's interiors are designed for optimal access to natural light and adequate air quality, which contributes to the well-being and productivity of those using the facility. The design also includes the use of rainwater and energy-efficient systems that ensure minimal environmental impact.

Combining tradition and modernity in architectural form
The architectural concept of the dance school is based on a harmonious combination of simple, geometric shapes with a natural material - wood. The buildings were designed taking into account the surrounding landscape and existing buildings, creating a coherent whole with the Nowohucki Park. The main part of the building is a two-story block with a green roof, which is interrupted by large glazing, creating a visual connection with the outdoor space. The second building, located on the island, features an outdoor dance floor that can be used for outdoor dancing.

eco-friendly solutions and modern technology
The project also includes technological solutions to save energy and minimize environmental impact. The building will be powered by electricity from the municipal grid and a heat pump, installed in a water tank. The use of solar panels, a ventilation system with recuperation, and state-of-the-art Pavegen technology, which converts energy created by walking into electricity, makes the project environmentally friendly and energy efficient. All these elements contribute to the sustainability and comfort of the facility throughout the year.

Community-friendly space
The design of the dance school not only meets the needs of dance lovers, but also promotes social integration. A spacious lobby, outdoor recreational areas, and spaces suitable for exhibitions or meetings, allow for active time with family and friends. With families with children in mind, the design includes rooms suitable for nursing mothers, as well as spaces friendly to people with disabilities.
