The more than 100-square-meter apartment designed by EFEM STUDIO brings together several eras. The architect himself calls it an urban style.

A place with history

The apartment is located in an old mill. The building is distinguished by brick, concrete and a spiral chute on the staircase. The 100m² space is divided into three zones — living, private and utility. The former includes the kitchen, living room and hallway. Bedroom with an open bathroom creates the private part. The utility zone consists of a room for storing household appliances and a guest toilet with a built-in washing machine.

Open space

Four, beautiful reinforced concrete structural columns captivated not only the investor, but also the architect from the very beginning.

- Seeing the space, I knew it had to be open. The client was also determined to do something unique, the issue of coming to terms with the openness of the space did not require more than two minutes of conversation. We went through the whole process together — hand in hand. I appreciate this commitment, but also the trust I was given - says the architect.

Beautiful design

Although the arrangement may seem minimalist, it hides a certain dynamism in the furniture, materials and forms. The color palette is calm. It consists of black, white and shades of gray. A characteristic point of the interior is the kitchen island. Liquid metal was used on its fronts.

- The appliances chosen for the kitchen are an outstanding design work. In addition, they are pleasant to use. This was very important for the client. Black appears in the form of fixtures and lighting with wires, and further — it goes to the area where we have a table, a lounge set and a bedroom area. What's more, I put contrasting elements, giving the whole thing the opportunity to interact with the full spectrum of levels, thus creating a contrast — the architect adds.

A place of relaxation

From the living room, we move to the bedroom, which features a free-standing bathtub and an open bathroom. According to the architect — we are moving away from small, cramped bathrooms in favor of open bath rooms. This way, while lying in bed, we have a view of the relaxation space and the free-standing bathtub.

Taking care of the details

Lighting also draws attention in this arrangment. Simple, minimalist and black fixtures fill the entire space. The lamps are conspicuous, but they do not disrupt the interior and are consistent with the entire decor. This solution perfectly fit the character of the apartment — somewhat industrial, urban and, above all, modern.
