"10 Questions to an Interior Architect" is a series of short talks inspired by the series "10 Questions to...". This time our attention is turned to interior architects. In today's episode, Sylwia Turkot talks about her approach to design.

Sylwia Turkot - interior designer, founder of the one-person interior design studio from Cracow Lvvia Studio. She specializes in unique and timeless interiors, where attention to detail and quality are paramount.

1. For me home is...

A place of peace and rest. A safe base, but also, above all, a reflection of the character of the household members.

2. The key to a successful interior design is...

Understanding the needs of future residents and responding to them. There are some universal assumptions in design, but they will never work completely for everyone. As a designer, you need to be vigilant and not offer everyone a "ready-made" just adjust certain assumptions to the person.

3. I look for inspiration in...

Everywhere, literally. In trade magazines, the Internet. I go on vacation to another country and peek at how people live there and what might work for us as well. Attentiveness is the key in all this. Sometimes inspiration comes from the least expected places.

4. In cooperation with an investor the most important thing is....

Mutual trust. I believe that interior design is really not so much a service, but a cooperation between the investor and the designer. For the duration of this cooperation, we need to trust each other so that the result is satisfactory for both parties.

5. My favorite design style is...

Eclecticism, because it is open to all patterns, colors and textures. You can go wild in it, there is no "bloat" in it, it allows a lot, because eclectic interiors can not be boring.

6. The most valuable item in my home is...

Standing lamp with onyx leg and glass irregular shade. Scoured on olx.

7. The most common mistake in self-decoration is....

Asking the opinion of everyone around, family, friends, etc. It's your interior, you will live in it, listen to what your inner voice says and let it guide you.

8. My favorite material is...

First of all, sincere and natural, with a distinct structure, does not pretend to be something that it is not, so all stones (marble, granite), fabrics (wool, linen), clay plasters and brushed metals, especially brass.

9. A trend that I would like to see pass already is...

Slats in excessive numbers. Gray-white interiors. Let's give ourselves some color! Loft concretism. Unless you live in a post-industrial building, then it makes sense.

10. Someday I would like to live in....

Townhouse. I know the mixed opinions on this subject. Some love it and others hate it. Living in a tenement seems very "romantic", but I understand that it may not be very practical. However, I would like to check it out for myself.
