"10 Questions to an Interior Designer" is a series of short talks inspired by the series "10 Questions to...". This time our attention is turned to interior architects. In today's episode, Karolina Pogorzelska talks about her approach to design.
Karolina Pogorzelska - owner of the Maszroom design studio. She makes sure that each project meets the highest requirements. She pays special attention to the quality of materials used and attention to detail. She believes that interior design is a complex process that requires mutual understanding and openness to the new. It is important for her to respond to the preferences of clients and offer unique and thoughtful solutions, so that everyone in their home feels special.
1. home is for me...
My asylum. I love living in Warsaw. It is a city full of history and culture, and full of life and energy. I regularly take advantage of the attractions offered by the capital. I visit galleries and museums. I participate in meetings for designers, during which I expand my knowledge of materials or novelties on the market. With such an active life, there is nothing more pleasant than returning home to my place where I feel safe and comfortable. Where I can relax after work and spend time with family and friends. It is my antidote to the stress of city life. Home is my private fortress where I can cut myself off from the world and recharge my batteries.
2 The key to a successful interior design is.
Carefully going through all the stages. I approach design in a holistic way, so the individual parts of the design make up a larger whole. The base of each project is ergonomics, and the next step is to select the style and materials that will meet the needs and requirements of my clients. None of these stages can be underestimated, because to create a successful interior design, each stage must be equally important.
3 - I look for inspiration....
Mostly they come on their own, whether while traveling or watching a movie. Interior design is a creative process that requires the ability to use different styles, materials and solutions. On a daily basis, I try to be attentive and open to the new. Wherever I am, I pay attention to the details of my surroundings. I then process them and use them in my own way. I love my work and creating concepts. Sometimes while working on a project, when I come up with, for example, an unusual piece of furniture, the solution just dreams to me.
4 In cooperation with the investor the most important thing is....
Trust. When the investor trusts the architect, his competence and experience, a free exchange of ideas and suggestions is possible. I do my work in a professional manner, I have experience, knowledge and skills that allow me to propose solutions that are not only functional, but also aesthetically intriguing.
5 My favorite design style is.
I am not limited to one style, I like challenges and creating new things. People with different needs come to Maszroom. I am happy to develop and prepare projects in different aesthetics. The most important thing is that the interiors are decorated with taste and pleasing to the eye.
6 The most valuable object in my home....
The greatest value for me is the Gamma diptych by Polish painter Aleksandra Staniorowska. The paintings hang exactly opposite the bed, so I can enjoy my eyes with them every morning and evening. I should add that the paintings are huge, as each one is 1 × 1.8 m! They are not only a decorative element. They are also an inspiration for me to develop creative thinking.
7 The most common mistake made when decorating interiors yourself is.
Lack of planning or ill-considered design. This happens when someone decides to do interior design on their own without proper preparation or consideration of the overall concept. This can end up with inadequately sized furniture, making the interior look disproportionate. Another mistake can be an inappropriate choice of colors, textures or accessories. A lack of stylistic consistency then appears, and the interior looks chaotic and disharmonious. The result of individual stumbling blocks is a domino effect. One wrong decision leads to more complications.
8 My favorite material is.
It is not a specific material. I am fascinated by unique combinations and combinations. One material can be used in a myriad of unique ways. Even for those that are often repeated in designs, an original effect can be achieved.
9 A trend I wish would pass away already is.
I don't like trends. I try to look for my own way and come up with out-of-the-box solutions.
Trends change quickly and what is popular at any given time can quickly become out of fashion. Avoiding solutions that appear too often allows you to create an individual and original interior that will last and will not go out of fashion. So it is worth looking for less obvious solutions, such as unusual colors, textures or textures, which can give the interior a unique character.
10 I would like, someday, to live in....
Cave. I already have my sights set on a house built inside a cave in Ohio. It's not about moving permanently, but a longer stay that will allow me to enjoy the whole experience
