We have previously presented a bathroom designed by Aleksandra Polakowska of Pracownia Architektury Wnętrz Deer Design. Today we take a look at the living area of a modern organic style apartment.

Danish inspirations

The 92-meter apartment in Mokotów was designed for a mother with two daughters. It was purchased from a developer. The functional layout was therefore already tailored to the needs of a family of three and did not require any changes. The owner is a photographer and a lover of design and art. She wanted the space to provide a suitable backdrop for displaying furniture, paintings and photo albums. The investor and the architect agreed not to enclose the daytime space and fill it with random objects. The result was a minimalist space inspired by Danish design.

Modernist classic

The only enclosed rooms in this zone are a dressing room and a guest bathroom. The living room is separated from the entrance area by a light wall. A simple dining table and modernist Wishbone chairs with beautifully shaped backs made of bent beech wood and woven seats are set just behind it.

Designer gem

Behind the dining room, a seating area has been arranged. It includes an iconic set of sofas and armchairs from the 1970s designed by Michel Ducaroy. The wrinkled, low-floor seats made of polyurethane foam are already 50 years old, but still look modern. Right next to it you'll find a coffee table with a marble top. Under the TV, there is a Danish sideboard made of rosewood.

Functional background

The two zones are tied together by a kitchen designed as an annex stretched along the length of the entire entrance wall. A simple built-in with handleless cabinets and drawers is flanked on the sides by two tall cabinets, which hide large appliances. The built-in furniture throughout the apartment was designed by Daniel Stochniałek of Pracownia Stolarska Deer Wood, who was also responsible for its implementation. The cladding imitating the texture of wood blends with the vinyl floor laid in a French herringbone pattern. The cooking area and countertop were made of quartzite.
