Transform your garden for spring. We present three inspiring transformations of backyard rest areas.

The author of the following arrangements is Dominik Strzelec a popular do-it-yourselfer and gardener. He hosts the TV show "Polowanie na ogród" on the HGTV channel .

How to arrange a narrow garden

Small gardens or their irregular shapes are frequent challenges for designers. However, you can turn even such spaces into a place for relaxation and fun. How to do it? Opt for clear and distinct separation of different zones.

- I decided that a small narrow garden would be the perfect space to create a outdoor living area. To reconcile the needs of different people, I divided it into two zones. I marked out the lounge zone by laying a large-format slab, which adds elegance to the arrangement. Right next to it there is room for more fun - explains the designer.

To delineate different parts of the garden, use patio slabs or paving stones, with which you can easily mark even irregular shapes. Decorate each zone accordingly. The resting area should encourage you to relax. So bet on comfortable garden furniture. Be sure to choose a set resistant to weather conditions. The play zone, on the other hand, can be evergreen thanks to an artificial lawn. Don't forget about lush vegetation, too.

Protection from too much sunlight

Not every garden is surrounded by trees that provide natural shade. This is especially true in cities, where the density of houses and segments is much higher and lush trees are rare. If your garden also lacks a place sheltered from the sun, you can create one yourself.

Dominik Strzelec transformed the look of this home garden by arranging a striking pergola. It perfectly fit into the resting and dining area. A clear division of the areas was easily achieved with terrace slabs and gravel. The pergola was adjusted to the free space. What do you need to make it? Venetian panels, wooden scantlings, metal corner and center connectors and bases with screws are enough. After carefully measuring the space, you will have a beautiful pergola that will give you respite from the sun and provide a cozy, atmospheric place to relax.

Representative garden

If you have no idea how to arrange a large garden, Dominik Strzelec advises you to start by creating a space that matches the look of your house.

- The first rule of a presentable terrace or garden is to be color-coordinated with the facade of the building and the style of the development. So in one of the metamorphoses I decided to use concrete slabs modeled on noble travertine, which allowed not only to enlarge the terrace area, but also to give it a character consistent with the current appearance of the house - the designer suggests.

According to him, this is when you will bring out the most beautiful thing from your garden - its unique character. Having a large space at your disposal, you can freely separate specific zones: dining, recreational, leisure and flower zones. Equip the garden with the necessary furniture and accessories, such as an extending table with chairs, comfortable seating and, above all, a spacious umbrella that will provide shade on hot days. Take care of diverse vegetation. This way you will enjoy the natural beauty of the home space.
