Where did Barbiecore come from?

The trend for taking inspiration from the style of the famous doll was sparked by the upcoming film "Barbie," directed by Greta Gerwig. The title role is played by Margot Robbie, while her partner Ken is played by Ryan Gosling. The first photos from the set showing the actress styled as Barbie made plenty of people fall in love with the aesthetic. Also contributing to the Barbiecore phenomenon was fashion house Valentino, or more precisely, the brand's creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. The designer dedicated his fall-winter 2022 collection to the Valentino Pink shade, which was created in collaboration with the Pantone Institute. Valentino's website describes the collection as "a manifestation of the subconscious and a release from the need for realism." Styles in intense pink have already been worn by Anne Hathaway, Florence Pugh and Dua Lipa, among others. All this has made Barbiecore the biggest trend of the season. The proof? Currently #Barbiecore has more than 17 million views on TikTok. So it's no surprise that the trend has made its way from clothes to our interiors as well.

Pink... and there it is

Thebasis of Barbiecore is, of course, the color pink. In all shades, characters and quantities. Here the principle works, more is more. Of course, vivid fuchsia is the shade we most associate with the famous doll. However, an interior filled exclusively with such a color would be overwhelming. With the wide spectrum of shades available, pink allows us to be as subtle as we like or as distinctive as we dare. To avoid overkill, combine Barbie pink with other shades, from pastels to powder pinks to salmon and coral hues. You can also opt out of monochromatic styling and introduce other colors. Pair pink with black for a stark contrast. A touch of gray will give the space an eighties vibe. While the combination of pink and orange will evoke the 1960s. A mix of pink and brown will also look great. So do not be afraid to combine this color with wood. The effect may pleasantly surprise you. You will get a modern and fresh styling, juxtaposing pink with white. However, if you don't want to bet on such a bold decor, opt for a few pink accents. Pastel-colored curtains, fuchsia-colored pillows or coral-colored vases will bring an intriguing element to the interior.

The trend is a bit campy. It's worth approaching with humor. Candy accents, bold patterns, acrylic chairs and retro-style furniture. All this can find its place in a Barbiecore-style interior. Play with textures. Puffy pink rugs and soft decorative pillows combine with sleek and shiny accents. Glass furniture and silver accessories will work great. You can also use pieces made of transparent plastic or vinyl. Barbiecore is meant to bring out your childlike joy and creativity. Use whatever makes your inner child happy. Let the room shine! Both gold and silver go well with pink. You can also introduce crystal elements. Any reference to the 1980s and neon are also very welcome. Barbiecore interior is supposed to make you feel better.
