The fact is that the bathroom is one of the most germ- and bacteria-prone rooms in our homes. Maintaining hygiene in such difficult conditions is especially important. Here are some tips for designing a bathroom and choosing fixtures that can effectively reduce the spread of germs.

The right design and materials

When designing a bathroom, let's think of everything so that we can easily keep it clean. Let's start with the ceiling, walls and floor, covering this surface with an easy-to-clean finish. Let's choose mildew-resistant, easy-to-wipe paints, and in the case of tiles - especially in the immediate vicinity of the shower, let's choose large-format tiles so that we have fewer joints to scrub. Non-porous, stain- and scratch-resistant countertop material is sure to be easier to clean. Furniture - it's a good idea to set it on high legs or, even better, attach it to the wall so that you have access to the surface underneath, which will make it easier to wipe the floor.

Modern fixtures

It has long been realized that rooms kept clean lead to a healthier and happier mood. The good news is that more and more innovative bathroom fixture options are emerging to enhance hygiene in both public and family bathrooms. Touchless bathroom fi xtures help avoid human contact with a surface full of bacteria with the help of built-in sensors. These fixtures include touchless toilets, touchless faucets, touchless trash garbage cans that open automatically, touchless soap dispensers, towel dispensers, hand dryers, etc.

Special Handles

When you think about how we wash our hands - it stops making sense when we want to remove all bacteria from them. First we touch the faucet with dirty hands, leaving germs on it. Then we wash our hands, and after rinsing off the soap, we touch the tap with clean hands to turn it off. All in vain! - After all, the tap is covered with germs from the moment we touch it. Modern design and even technology come to the rescue here.
A simpler solution is to install extra-long handles. It allows you to quickly adjust the stream of water with your elbows, for example, thus reducing the touching of dirty surfaces with your hands.

Touchless faucets

Another idea is to install touchless faucets, both in commercial and residential bathrooms. These have infrared sensors that activate when motion is detected near them, eliminating the need to touch a faucet covered in germs. Some faucets even come with a bluetooth feature that allows you to program the time and temperature at which water will flow when the sensor is triggered. This is a great feature if you want to save on water consumption. Another benefit of having touchless faucets in the home is the reduction of water splashing all over the bathroom. When we try to turn on the faucet with wet hands, we inevitably leave droplets of water around the sink and faucet area. Germs spread faster in water, so less water on the countertop ensures a more hygienic bathroom.

Touchless toilets

Faucets are not the only bathroom fixtures that have been revolutionized by touchless technology. Current touchless toilet technology solutions that use flush buttons are activated when motion is detected in front of a sensor. However, some manufacturers are going further, installing electronic flush valves that automatically activate when the user leaves the sensor area.
Nevertheless, when we still do not have the opportunity to install such a modern device in our home, which is often quite expensive. Remember to always close the toilet bowl when flushing to prevent microscopic bacteria from floating throughout the bathroom, and disinfect it at least once a week.
