Design challenge

Katarzyna Kraszewska designed an apartment created by combining four apartments. The impressive 260 sq. ft. space was a challenge, however. The arrangement had to be stylistically consistent and functional. The investors wanted a clear zoning of the space so that residents performing different activities would not interfere with each other's duties and relaxation. The owners carefully analyzed with the designers every detail, drawing, dimension or furniture layout. Already at the design stage, the purpose and equipment of each drawer was determined.

Functional solutions

A lot of attention was paid to utility spaces. The architects created a pantry, a technical room with a laundry room and a server room. In addition, a lot of hidden cabinets were created so that everything had its place and nothing stood on top. Also, the kitchen was arranged in such a way that its "dirty" part is never visible from the dining room and living room. Despite the fact that the building is multi-family and has adequate infrastructure, water filters were installed in the apartment. The kitchen faucet provides access not only to domestic water, but also boiling water for making tea straight from the tap. This makes a kettle unnecessary. Also noteworthy is the hanging lamp above the kitchen island. By special order, the manufacturer installed a speaker in it.

Kitchen in stone

The focal point of the kitchen annex is an elegant island. Its monolithic body was clad with quartzite. Such a composition looks beautiful against the wall, which is also covered with stone. It is also a spatial reference to the rectangular table located in the dining area. A refrigerator and an oven were placed in the built-in next to it, which makes it easier to serve food. The wall-mounted cabinets in the depth do not resemble a typical kitchen built-in. The living room impression is also enhanced by the decorative ceramics set on them.

Warm minimalism

The subdued but cozy arrangement continues in the dining room. The focal point is, of course, the table. A long wooden piece of furniture with a natural finish is surrounded by modern upholstered chairs in a neutral gray shade. A wooden floor with a warm finish emphasizes the natural character of the interior. Three modern paintings of textured, monochromatic form hang on the wall, bringing a contemporary, slightly abstract touch to the space. With large windows and light, floor-to-ceiling curtains, the space is well-lit. The fabric in a soft beige color lets in natural light while providing intimacy. The whole space exudes calm and harmony, thanks to the muted color scheme, modern furniture and thoughtful, subtle decor.
