The bathroom is often the most humid and warm room in any house. So it is not surprising that mold often appears there - these are ideal conditions for it. We suggest how to prevent its development in the bathroom and what to do when this uninvited guest has already settled in our house.

Causes of mold formation
Due to the conditions created in the bathroom when we use it, mold can often appear even in rooms that are kept clean. Among the most common causes are:
- Leaky pipes
- Poor ventilation
- Unsuitable, unsuitable for high humidity materials
- Leaky faucet toilet, shower tray or bathtub
How to prevent mold in the bathroom
Check the ventilation
A common cause of mold is poor ventilation. If there are no windows in the bathroom, you might consider investing in a fan. This will have a similar effect to an open window, helping to disperse excess moisture from the air after a shower. If the fan is already installed, you can try cleaning it, often a lot of dust accumulates there.
Open the window
It probably won't reduce existing mold, but opening the bathroom window after a shower will allow excess moisture to naturally dissipate from the air. This will prevent water vapor from settling as much on the walls, ceiling and around the windows, thereby reducing the risk of mold.
Dehumidify damp surfaces
To prevent mold buildup in the area of the shower itself, try to wipe down the floor and shower components like the shower tray and wall panels when they are damp. This will remove excess water vapor that could facilitate mold growth. Keeping the bathroom clean can be helped by separating zones. Using this procedure, we will separate the wet zone of the room from the dry zone.
Routine cleaning
Without regular cleaning of the bathroom , bacteria, limescale and mold can become a real problem. Let's not forget about hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, grout or silicones, which are prone to mold. Change towels and bathroom rugs often, and hang wet ones in dry, well-ventilated areas.
Invest in the right plants
If we have at least some light in our bathroom, we can use plants. Some of them can help reduce mold because they reduce moisture in the air. This includes ivy or ferns, for example.

How to get rid of mold in the bathroom
To remove mold from your bathroom, it's a good idea to get the right mold cleaning products. These products are usually quite toxic, so be sure to take proper precautions. Wear rubber gloves and a face mask to avoid inhaling harmful fumes. Remember to test the product on a small area first. For cleaning grout and silicone, an ordinary toothbrush can be very useful, which will reach every nook and cranny. Remember to rinse it from time to time during cleaning to remove spores.
