This two-level, more than 80-square-meter apartment is located in Cracow. The project was realized by Kamila Palmowska.
Japandi and travel souvenirs
Simple, subdued design creates a balanced space here, and elements alluding to the nature gives the interior a timeless dimension. Warm tones in earthy colors dominate throughout the apartment. The use of natural materials, lots of wood, stone, accessories, furniture and textiles woven from natural fibers, brings a cozy atmosphere to the house. Rattan, paper and glass lighting adds variety to the space and alludes to the Zen philosophy. On the other hand, books and souvenirs from the numerous trips made by the owners, as well as paintings and handmade ceramics add a personal touch to the interior. An important role is also played by plants, organic shapes and durable materials, which have a soothing effect on the well-being of the household members.

Kitchen combining modern minimalism with retro elements
The heart of the house is undoubtedly the kitchen in the color of classic American walnut with a distinct vertical grain. The kitchen countertop was made of natural marble with a noble, subtle pattern. The stone also appeared on the wall in the form of a low "collar" emphasizing the minimalist style of the development. To break the modern restraint, the designer put on accents maintained in the spirit of retro. Ceramic, gently curved light switches and sockets, as well as a stylized brass kitchen faucet, give the space a unique atmosphere. Breaking the wooden, lower cabinetry, is a row of beige wall cabinets. The design doesn't lack open storage. The shelves in the upper zone have become a key place to display the owners' favorite items. One of them is a sizable collection of ceramics, much of which was handmade by the apartment's owner. The center of social gatherings is a custom-made wooden folding round table. Around it are placed minimalist, bentwood chairs alluding to classic Danish design. The conical support of the table top, covered with rhythmic milling in the form of lamellas, attracts the eye. Meanwhile, the walls are decorated with a film poster by Bartosz Kosowski. Bathed in sunlight, the dining room flows seamlessly into the living area.

Inspirations from back in the day
The subdued color scheme got up as a great base for light contrasts, which effectively enliven but do not destroy the harmony of the arrangement. The focal point of the lounge area is a velour sofa in a vibrant green hue. The main storage space in the living room is a bookcase inspired by the 1950s and 1960s. A characteristic element of this space is the fireplace, which creates a cozy, homey atmosphere. The white of the walls is enriched with a humorous work by Jakub Zasada.

Toilet with a pinch of asymmetry
On the first floor there is a small-sized guest toilet. It is a consistent combination of harmonious color palette. Large slabs with a raw terrazzo pattern, which are a smooth continuation of the floor from the hallway, blend well with elements of wood and brushed brass. Lightness, meanwhile, is lent by a curved sink cabinet that repeats the motif of vertical divisions, alluding to the dining room table. An asymmetrical mirror paired with a glass lamp with an irregular blown shade introduce a touch of playfulness.

Decorative mezzanine
A minimalist staircase leads to the first floor of the apartment. The mezzanine is illuminated by a striking lamp. Its lampshade was made of white rice paper, with elements of oak wood stained black. As a result, the lamp resembles a striking Asian lantern. The space between the floors is also decorated with a canvas by the owner of the apartment, who has been fascinated by the work of Henri Rousseau for years. The investor created a vivid composition, in which the jungle motif reigns supreme, perfectly matching the residents' traveling lifestyle.

Bedroom with personal accessories
The place intended for rest and tranquility is delicate and bright. Already at the very entrance, attention is drawn to the bed with a headrest finished with rattan braid. An intimate touch is given by the poster "Kiss II" by Robert Kuta, depicting a simplified interpretation of the theme of kissing in art. Most of the accessories found in the apartment have a sentimental meaning for the household members. The subdued color scheme of the bedroom was enriched with a vivid accent in the form of a hand-woven kilim brought by the owners from their trip to Cappadocia. Minimalist wall lamps in the form of spheres create together with the curved details of the headrest an eclectic, intriguing whole.

Bathroom full of structures
In the upstairs bathroom we can find custom-made concrete trough-type sink. The gray of the raw material is warmed by a cabinet made of walnut veneer. The bathroom is distinguished by a consistent, calm beige-brown color scheme. Thanks to the convex surface, large-format tiles with a cement structure in two intermingling shades, perfectly harmonize with the soft, diffused light. The irregular, undulating structure of the tiles continues in the shower. This time it took the form of small rectangular formats delighting in a gradient dialogue of sandy shades.
