We choose to combine tiles with wooden flooring for practical reasons. However, traditional solutions do not look very interesting. So we suggest how to break the pattern in floor design, while introducing modern aesthetics into the house.
Combination of parquet and tiles
Troublesome composition
When proceeding to compose our floor, we face many dilemmas. One of them is the juxtaposition of two surfaces - practical and durable tiles and noble-looking parquet or plank flooring. We have to take into account the differences in the height of the applied layers, but also the juxtaposition of different shapes and colors can cause us a lot of trouble.
Compositions created with tiles and parquet flooring
Practicality and aesthetics
If the spaces in our house are open, but nevertheless we would like to separate the zones, we can choose to highlight them and divide them through a different floor surface. In this way, we can separate the open living room and kitchen, the bedroom and bathroom or, for example, the hallway the representative part of the house.
Such a solution will work for both practical and aesthetic reasons. Cool to the touch, but easy to clean tiles would not be a pleasant surface for use in the living room, which is why we usually lay parquet there. Also in the bath area, open to the room, it is worth using a moisture-resistant surface, which is not necessarily needed in the rest of the room. The floor in the hallway, which is exposed to more frequent abrasion and dirt, would also do well to be made of a more resistant or darker material than the one in the living room.
The interpenetration of parquet and tile surfaces
Some architects use this technique to introduce variety into the space. This solution also happens to be a way to optically change the proportions of a room, or its perspective.

A pattern planned in detail
If you want to subtly differentiate zones, it is worth choosing a flooring material in a similar shape, but differing only in color. Extremely fashionable lately is the seamless blending of different types of flooring. Nothing stands in the way of combining different style surfaces, for example, honeycomb and classic herringbone. This can look intriguing and interesting, but it is worth making a visualization of such a composition in advance and planning the arrangement in detail.
