This is counterintuitive. After all, the task of a washing machine is to do laundry, during which its interior is filled with water and soap. If you think that washing the washing machine is unnecessary, you may be fatally mistaken. So why clean this appliance - let's check.

Why do you need to clean the washing machine?
During each wash, residues of detergents, soap and dirt settle in the washing machine. They form a thin layer that traps bacteria. This layer can become thicker over time, causing our machine to malfunction or even cause it to fail. In addition, washing machines in their interiors create ideal conditions for bacteria to grow (heat and humidity), so we should take even more careful care of them.
Often there is also an unpleasant odor coming from the device. This can be a sign that we should take to cleaning it immediately, as over time it can transfer to our freshly washed clothes.
How to take care of the cleanliness of the washing machine
Sticking to a few simple rules after each wash will help prevent the growth of bacteria and keep your clothes clean and smelling clean at all times.
-
Take out the washed clothes immediately after finishing the washing program. It has happened to everyone to leave damp laundry for several hours in a closed washing machine. Not only is it bad for our clothes - they are more crumpled and don't smell very good, but such a small negligence can lead to the spread of bacteria. However, if you forget to take the laundry out for a very long time, it is worth running the washing program again.
-
After transferring the clothes to the dryer, leave the door or lid of the washing machine open. This will allow the inside of the drum to dry, preventing bacteria and mold growth.
-
Do not overfill your washing machine with a large amount of laundry. This can cause the washing machine to overwork, thus clogging pipes and drains.

How to clean the washing machine?
- At the beginning of cleaning, wipe down the interior and the seals around the appliance door with an all-purpose cleaner.
- The next step is to find the filter, which should be located in the lower right corner behind the small plastic cover. If you can't find the filter, refer to the instruction manual.
- After removing the element, clean it thoroughly and rinse it well before putting it back in the machine.
- Now it's time to clean the inside of the washing machine. You can do this by turning on an empty washing machine, and instead of washing powder, use ½ cup of baking soda and 3 cups of vinegar. Vinegar disinfects, sanitizes, removes accumulated deposits and can even clean the inside of drain pipes. It also has deodorizing properties, which will get rid of unpleasant odors.
- After completing the first wash cycle, run another cycle this time already with clean water to kill bacteria and rinse the machine.
