Christmas arrangement in the hygge style

20 of December '23

Two philosophies are intertwined in the interior designed by Maja Śmichura of Deer Design studio. Danish hygge, which means the happiness that comes from being in a warm, friendly environment, blends seamlessly with the "less is more" concept. The shining lights and opulent decorations have been replaced by simple Christmas accents, natural materials and subtle accessories, as well as mild winter sunshine filling the interior.

The beauty of imperfection

A small living room combines several zones. A functional kitchenette opens to the dining room. Here, at the round table, there is room for as many as four people. Simple cabinets in oak veneer correspond nicely with the resin floor. A circle of boards referring to the shape of the table is the interesting solution.

Round forms and shapes appear in many places in the apartment. Bright glazed tiles with uneven edges were laid on the wall above the lower cabinets. The effect of apparent unfinishedness and natural materials such as wood, linen textiles on the table, jute rugs and rattan chair fillings allude to the "less is more" concept in which this interior was decorated.

Christmas minimalism

The lounge corner is formed by a comfortable sofa and a small marble table. This is the perfect place for Christmas decorations. The owner of the apartment prefers subtler accents to rich Christmas decorations. Thus, a small green tree can be found here. Vases are filled with pine needles along with red holly balls and hand-woven ornaments. Other accents include a snow globe and a paper black decoration, placed on a shelf in the kitchen. These unobtrusive symbols of Christmas create a pleasant, atmosphere, which is complemented by the spreading scent of spices added to freshly baked gingerbread.

Cozy and functional

In the bathroom you will find bright, warm colors as well. Its focal point is a capacious cabinet with a pattern imitating wood. It gives the room both functionality and coziness. Next to it there is a comfortable bathtub and a shelf created in the wall right behind it for cosmetics and bath accessories. This is the perfect solution to keep the bathroom tidy, while not disturbing the harmonious design. The irregularly shaped mirror hanging above the sink adds character and lightness to the arrangement. The wall behind it is lined with white oblong tiles. Thanks to finishing them with grout of the same color, wall looks uniform. The hygienic zone is illuminated by an original long lamp. Its intriguing form resembles a fragment of a bracelet made of colorful beads.
