The Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Technology has established cooperation with the Polish branch of an international association working for the development of openBIM technology.
The letter of intent confirming the cooperation was signed by Dr. Roman Czajka, associate dean for didactics at the Faculty of Architecture of the Wroclaw University of Technology, as well as Jerzy Rusin, president of buldingSMART Poland, and Kamil Stolarski, member of the association's board. The letter is a formal confirmation of the desire to continue cooperation in supporting the development of construction digitization based on open communication standards and data exchange.

The buldingSMART organization develops, standardizes and makes available to the world specific technological solutions for the exchange of BIM data. In the words of buildingSMART members:
The association strives to make the world, through the use of digital technologies and open exchange of BIM data, build smarter, more efficiently, cheaper and faster.
That's why the organization focuses on solutions to improve communication in the investment process, which is expected to lead to better management.
Cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at PWr
According to Romuald Tarczewski, Ph.D., of PWr's Faculty of Architecture, who collaborates with the organization as a member of one of its Product Room Technical Working Groups:
buldingSMART is an association that internationally coordinates the development of various methods related to BIM, in terms of not so much software tools, but rather information about this technology and the classification of this information. The establishment of a formal cooperation makes us very happy. We have many plans, the details of which we would not like to reveal for now, because it is too early for that. However, we can certainly say that together we will introduce the subject of BIM as much as possible into the didactics at our university.
The organization is already supporting, among other things, the New Technologies Conference "BIMaction" initiated and developed by the Scientific Circle of Young Construction Managers at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at PWr. In turn, this summer, Romuald Tarczewski, PhD, will participate in the Polish jury of the 2020 buildingSMART International Awards competition, which awards investment projects or research works on openBIM issues, i.e. using the IFC format and related solutions.
