The basic assumption of the design of the new headquarters of the Musical Theater in Poznan was to emphasize its role in the life of the city and its residents and to create a flexible space, adapted to any audience. The new headquarters should be a world-class facility, meeting the expectations of audiences, actors, stage designers and other users.
The project assumes that the Musical Theater is a living organism, not fitting into the conventional understanding of theater. The entrance plaza has been closed with a "curtain" made of luminous glass pillars, which, together with an extended straight roof, will form the first stage portal. The viewer becomes a participant in the event even before he or she is in the entrance hall. The designed building will be lower than the neighboring ones, and will not overwhelm the Academy of Music, while exposing its facades as much as possible.
The curves characteristic of the gables and corners of the Academy of Music or the University will find their references in the form of a localized "basket" on the roof. Facade materials and strong rectilinear divisions will provide a background for the historic architecture.
