Types of cooktops
Choosing a cooktop for the kitchen is one of the key decisions when decorating or renovating an interior. There are four main types of cooktops on the market today:
Gas cooktop
This is a classic solution used in many homes. It requires connection to a gas system or the use of a cylinder. Its main advantage is the low cost of operation and quick response to power changes.
Electric hob
It has traditional heaters that heat up and transfer heat to the pot. Its disadvantages are high energy consumption and longer heating time.
Induction cooktop
Uses a magnetic field to directly heat the cookware, making it the safest and fastest solution. However, it requires pots with ferromagnetic bottoms.
Ceramic hob
Works similarly to electric, but has a flat surface made of tempered glass. Its advantage is that it is easy to clean, while it heats up more slowly than an induction cooktop.

What to pay attention to before buying a cooktop?
Before deciding to buy a particular cooktop, it is worth analyzing several key aspects. The first is the power and number of burners/heating zones. Standard models have 4 fields, but there are also two-burner hobs or models with additional features. Another aspect is the type of control. In the case of induction and ceramic, you can find touch controls, while gas hobs have knobs. You should also make sure that the hob fits on the countertop and is compatible with the kitchen ventilation system. Also pay attention to energy efficiency. Induction cooktops are the most energy-efficient option, as they transfer heat directly to the cookware. Also, make sure that the cooktop you choose has all the important features, such as parental lock, automatic shutdown and flood protection.
Installation of the cooktop
The installation of a cooktop depends on its type and the specific requirements of the manufacturer. Gas cooktops must be installed by an authorized specialist who will connect them to the gas system, check the tightness of the connections and ensure the safety of use. In the case of electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, it is crucial to ensure adequate power supply - most models require 230 volts, but some more powerful units may need a 400-volt installation. Before installation, cut a suitable hole in the countertop according to the manufacturer's recommendations, and then embed the hob in it, taking care to ensure proper ventilation. Plates are usually mounted on gaskets to prevent moisture from entering the cabinets. In the case of induction, it is also important to make sure that there is enough space underneath for air circulation, which is essential for proper operation. Once the cooktop is plugged in, it's a good idea to check that it is working properly and that there are no malfunctions.
Installation of the cooktop requires adjustment to the type of cooktop - gas cooktops must be installed by a specialist, and induction and electric cooktops require proper connection to the grid.

Prices of different types of cooktops
The prices of cooktops vary depending on the type and functions they offer. Gas cooktops are the cheapest option. Their prices start at around PLN 400 for basic models and go up to PLN 3,000 for modern variants with additional features. Electric hobs are a bit more expensive - costing from 500 to 2,500 zlotys, depending on the build quality and power of the device. Ceramic hobs, which are more technologically advanced, can be bought in the range of 600 to 3500 zlotys. The most expensive are induction hobs, which provide the highest energy efficiency and convenience. Their prices start at around PLN 1,000, and in the case of premium models can reach up to PLN 7,000. Thus, the choice of an appropriate hob should take into account both the budget and the needs of the user.
