Current contests

The City of Warsaw's Wilanów District and the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Architects have announced a competition for an architectural concept for an elementary school with sports facilities and the necessary infrastructure at Łokciowa Street in Warsaw's Wilanów district.

The competition is an implementation competition, limited, two-stage.

The designed object is to be an educational complex, the main function of which will be an elementary school with a sports complex (hall, outdoor fields) and recreation areas. Additional functions - Youth Cultural Center and psychological-pedagogical counseling center - are to be functionally linked to the educational complex, but also allow independent functioning.

The complex should be inviting, designed to stimulate children's imagination and respond to progress, as well as incorporate environmentally friendly solutions. The solutions adopted should remain in accordance with the Architectural and Functional Standards for Elementary Schools and School-Preschool Complexes of the City of Warsaw.

The Bureau of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the Warsaw City Hall, on behalf of the President of the City of Warsaw, has announced a competition for the architectural concept of a skating track hall and two ice halls for the Stegny Center in Warsaw's Mokotow district.

The competition is an implementation competition, limited, one-stage.

In the area of the study there is currently a track designed by Janusz Kalbarczyk, which was put into operation in 1980. The architects responsible for the entire complex, which also included two buildings, were Elżbieta Jankowska (chief architect), Czesław Molenda, Andrzej Ryba, Zbigniew Cis-Bankiewicz and Franciszek Ukleja of the "Stolica" Municipal Construction Design Bureau. Unfortunately, the existing facilities and infrastructure, due to their technical condition, are slated for demolition.

The competition concept, in addition to being in accordance with the provisions of the Local Spatial Development Plan for the area of the intersection of Sikorskiego and Sobieskiego Streets, must also comply with the requirements of the ISU federation (in accordance with the INTERNATIONAL SKATING UNION SPECIAL REGULATIONS & TECHNICAL RULES SPEED SKATING 2024), the Polish Speed Skating Federation, as well as meet the requirements of the IIHF contained in the IIHF Official Rule Book 2024/25.

The concepts will be judged by their attractiveness and functionality, the selection of architectural form for the function of the facilities and the integration of the facilities into the surroundings. Also important in the evaluation of the works will be compliance with the recommended guidelines, feasibility of implementation, the economics of the proposed solutions and the economics of use, as well as the maximum planned cost of the work implemented on the basis of the competition work, in relation to the attractiveness of the solutions obtained and the economics of use. The use of solutions that reduce the operation of the investment and reduce noise will be promoted.

Krakow University ofTechnology and the Faculty of Architecture ofKrakow Universityof Technology, as part of the university's 80th anniversary celebrations, have announced an international conceptual competition encouraging students to create visionary ideas for the university' s campus of the future in Krakow's Czyżyny district - CUT Campus: Driven by novel approaches.

The conceptual competition is aimed at first- and second-level architecture students studying at universities in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

The competition entry may be prepared individually or in a team of up to 10 people and should be developed under the guidance of an academic teacher.

Contest entries should be prepared on two 100 cm x 70 cm boards, in PDF format, in portrait orientation, and the written part in a pdf file containing a maximum of two A4 pages of text along with illustrations, diagrams, sketches.

The competition jury will be chaired by Professor Rafi Segal, a world-renowned professor of architecture and urban planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he heads the Future Urban Collectives research group.

The organizer of the competition, WSC is pleased to announce the launch of the 8th edition of the nationwide competition Diploma with Archicad (DZA). This competition is aimed at students and graduates of architecture, urban planning, interior design and landscape architecture who have used Archicad software in their diploma works.

Participation in the DZA competition is an excellent opportunity to showcase your talent to a wider audience and establish contacts with industry professionals. Winners of previous editions often emphasize that recognition in the competition has opened up new professional opportunities and contributed to dynamic career development.

Authors of diploma theses (engineering, bachelor's and master's) in the fields of architecture, urban planning, interior design and landscape architecture that were defended between January 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025 are invited to participate in the competition.

A prerequisite is the use of Archicad in part of the design process - at least to the extent of determining the spatial form of the building. It is permissible to use other programs for complementary purposes, such as graphic development, details, schematics or renderings.

The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2025. All entries should be prepared in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the competition regulations, available on the website.

Their task will be to evaluate the architectural and urban design qualities of the works, the degree of use of Archicad's capabilities and creativity in the graphical representation of the projects.

The City and Municipality of Kórnik is seeking an idea for the design of an elementary school building through a competition.

The competition is a limited, one-stage competition.

One should design a public utility (educational) building with: classrooms (staging of the implementation of 14 branches + 6 branches), fully equipped kitchen, canteen, common room, library, computer rooms, sanitary facilities, gymnasium, rooms for individual classes, rooms for pedagogue, psychologist, special educator, speech therapist, teacher's room, auditorium, administrative, social and storage rooms. The development of the site, in addition to the cubic building, must include recreational and sports facilities, park greenery, communications and parking lots.

The building should be designed on the basis of the principles of universal design, it should includeenergy-saving materials and strive for the highest quality architectural, spatial, functional and natural solutions.

The Wadowice Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Cracow branch of the Association of Polish Architects, has announced a competition to develop a concept for the expansion and reconstruction of the existing facility located in the central part of Wadowice, at the intersection of Teatralna and Henryk Sienkiewicza streets.

The competition is an implementation competition, limited, one-stage.

The Wadowice Cultural Center aspires to be an important meeting place in the city: residents among themselves and "meetings with art" in its most diverse manifestations. The idea of the competition is therefore to find an attractive formula for a multifunctional center.

The existing WCK building is in a relatively good technical condition, but the calculations and the conclusion of the structural expert's report urge total replacement of the building substance. It is possible, and even advisable, to radically interfere with the existing building substance, with only the facade being preserved.

The goal of the competition is to select an architectural design for a kindergarten in southern Senegal, a facility that promotes the all-round development of children by providing a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment. The architecture should support the right to education and well-being, provide a space whose functionality goes beyond education, integrates, offers opportunities for play, socialization and exploration, and will serve as a focal point for the entire community.

The organizers are looking for an architectural solution that instills confidence and peace of mind in children, families and the community at large - a welcoming, unique and symbolic environment where every child feels their worth and is supported in their development.

The project should be devised in such a way that it can be implemented through a process of humanitarian intervention and self-build, without qualified personnel and with the direct participation of the community. The facility should be easy to implement using sustainable and self-sustainable construction technologies, use natural and/or recycled materials available in the area to reduce environmental impact, and be integrated into the rural environment. A one-story building with a maximum area of 500 square meters should not cost more than 70 thousand euros.

The design of the kindergarten should include five classrooms, each accommodating about 20 children, space for administrative needs and meetings with parents, an educational play area, a doctor's office, a dining room, a storage room and toilets.

The Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship, based in Szczecin, in cooperation with the Koszalin branch of SARP, has announced a competition for the development of a conceptual design for the construction of the Center for Sustainable Development EKOFUTURIUM in Koszalin, together with land development.

The competition is an implementation competition, limited, two-stage.

The multidisciplinary center - unique on a European scale - is to focus on finding and designing solutions for the future, in the universal aspect of the way humans function in the environment. The overarching mission is the contemporary, multi-level idea of sustainability, present in the creation of responsible environmental behavior, innovative material and spatial solutions. Oriented to the challenges and opportunities of man in the face of the future, leads to emphasize such means of expression as hyper-modernity, experimentation, dynamism, openness, dialogue.

Thus, EKOFUTURIUM is to house, among other things, exhibition spaces, conference halls, laboratories, an auditorium, server rooms and a publicly accessible roof garden. The form of the designed building should be read as an ultra-modern dominant, a kind of landmark, welcoming visitors and bidding farewell to Koszalin's guests and completing the panorama of the university's building complex. Due to the role of this project and very interesting spatial solutions, an important competition decision will be the proper setting of relations and compositional links between the Cognitarium cubature and the designed EKOFUTURIUM object.

It is assumed that the facility will function based on the highest standards of ecology, reduction of media consumption, circular economy and based on the principles of biophilic design. The facility should provide healthier conditions of use and implement the principles of reduced environmental impact.

The entire premise is to be complemented by landscaping in the form of a science park, or experience garden, which will be an integral part of the building's exhibition.

purpose

The competition is a two-stage, limited, implementation competition.

In the first stage, participants submit studies, and in the second stage - competition works.

The new headquarters of the Wieluń Forest District is to be located on Wojska Polskiego Street in Wieluń. Its design should take into account the tradition and rank of the place, as well as its role in the city and region. The height of the building should not exceed 12 meters, a building without a basement is planned, with a garage and utility section.
