David Meca, the world swimming champion, boasting more than 100 titles in his career, is undoubtedly a born athlete who loves to face challenges. Building a new home was a real test for him.
The project involved a complex and unique renovation of an attic housed in an original building located on Gran Vía itself, one of the most emblematic streets in the Spanish capital. The construction required the use of unique materials and decorative elements to reflect the character of this great swimmer. This is his most personal experience, which he worked on with great enthusiasm for the last year of his life.
The architectural studies he attended during his stay in the United States served to give him a clear idea of the design and execution of his new home. In addition, his interest and love of decorating helped him create an elegant and stylish living space. The bright attic with wide windows is dominated by open spaces and white tones.
I believe that a home, is something very personal and, in addition to the fact that you need to feel good in it, it should also reflect your personality, so to speak.
In order to achieve the desired effect, David knew from the very beginning that in the kitchen and bathroom of his new home, two of the most important rooms of the household, his choice would be Neolith®.
A cascading island made of Neolith® Calacatta is the focal point of the decoration of the athlete's immaculate kitchen, characterized by an open concept and connecting to the living room and the breathtaking terrace, which offers a 360-degree view of Madrid.
Inspired by the finest Calacatta slabs from Carrara, this model offers a sophisticated yet modern and minimalist design, characterized by a subtle gray-toned lining on a snow-white background.
Neolith is a beautiful yet robust, durable and elegant Sintered Stone.
It was its unique properties that determined the choice of Neolith® also for the bathroom, where the walls, furniture and even the shower were covered with the same Calacatta model with Silk finish, providing the environment with a feeling of continuity and abundance.
David Mecca succeeded in creating a pleasant and luxurious impression of gentility throughout the house, thanks to the choice of such a unique material as Neolith®, which was incorporated with the good taste and passion that characterize the famous sportsman.
