the future in the hands of architects

The leitmotif of the debate, which took place during the Design and Architecture Forum on February 6 this year, was "Open City, Friendly City." The meeting was attended by Małgorzata Kuciewicz (CENTRALA design group), Anna Dobek (WXCA) and Przemo Łukasik (MEDUSA GROUP). The discussion was led by Malgorzata Tomczak and Jakub Glaz. The very broad topic was decided to be narrowed down to three most important problems: aging population, climate change and reuse, i.e. reuse of raw materials. The interlocutors considered, among other things, how to address urban overheating and how to rebuild communities. They discussed whether architects have influence over developers and city authorities, and how they can talk to them. An important topic was the responsibility incumbent on architects to design with respect for nature and with the ability to listen and respond to current issues. There was also a focus on learning to dispense with excess and introducing simple, natural solutions.

This year we also held urban planning and architectural workshops. As an area to be developed, we proposed the Lower Lazarus area, which requires an in-depth remedial strategy and a rethinking of the function of existing buildings there. Students from the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology, led by Dr. Bartosz Kazmierczak, worked on creating a functional and urban planning proposal for this part of Poznań. Three student groups decided to focus on the part around the railroad line, proposing the construction of a pedestrian and bicycle footbridge connecting two Poznan districts: Lazarus and Wilda. The results of this intensive three-day workshop were presented by the groups in front of an audience during the Design and Architecture Forum.

A&B stand

During this year's Budma, the Architecture and Business booth was located in pavilion No. 5. It was a place for informal meetings with architects, investors, students and visitors to the fair, but also a space where you could quietly read the latest issues of our magazine while sipping delicious coffee.
