The Institute of Design in Kielce invites you to participate in an open competition entitled "Public Space in Times of Blight" for the design of interventions in public space, both external and internal.
Public space has always been an area conducive to interaction and integration. An open meeting place for people from all walks of life. What happens if the rules of the game change? The current ban on leaving home and maintaining distance affects all of us, but especially the most vulnerable - "trapped" seniors in nursing homes, sick people deprived of the opportunity to visit loved ones, children, and those without access to the Internet.
How to maintain social ties in this situation? Is the Internet the only option? How to find yourself in the new reality?
The Institute of Design in Kielce invites you to submit bold competition projects to help develop solutions that will also serve after the pandemic ends. The competition project should be a response to the limitations of the state of emergency: the prohibition of leaving home, isolation or the need to maintain distance. The intervention can take any form depending on the inventiveness of the creator. Entries can be submitted until May 3 this year, and the results of the contest will be announced on May 20.
The competition is aimed mainly at design professionals and art and design students. Interdisciplinary teams involving, for example, psychologists, sociologists or philosophers are also not excluded.

The competition jury will consist of Natalia Hatalska (infuture.institute), Magdalena Fryze-Seroka, Aneta Lehmann, Sylwia Bruna (European Solidarity Center), Ewa Gołębiowska (Cieszyn Castle), Dominika Janicka (Institute of Design in Kielce) and Franciszek Wojciech Sterczewski (urban activist, MP for the ninth parliamentary term).
