Competition for modernization of office building at pl. Starynkiewicza 7/9 in Warsaw settled!

11 of March '20

During the Warsaw Uprising, the Tourist House building suffered greatly due to the fighting inside. It was rebuilt in 1947. It became the headquarters of the editorial offices of newspapers and news agencies, including Trybuna Ludu and later Rzeczpospolita. Today it houses the Warsaw City Hall.

The competition organized by the City of Warsaw included a design for the reconstruction of the office building at 7/9 Starynkiewicz Square, along with the development of the courtyard. The jury selected the winner of the best concept in terms of visual, usability and economy.

The winner of first place was the Warsaw design studio AMC - Andrzej M. Choldzynski and his team. The project was appreciated, among other things, for spatial solutions directed with the office's client in mind - to make the visit go smoothly and without the problem of wandering around looking for the right service point. The architects also provided for additional parking space, thanks to the idea of transforming the entire quarter. The studio was awarded 30 thousand PLN and an invitation to negotiate on a sole-source basis.
