Author team: Edzard Schultz, Anna Stryszewska-Słońska
co-authors: Katarzyna Skowronek, Marta Wróblewska, Łukasz Umiński, Łukasz Kaczmarek, Melina Haures
Justification of the Jury
The first prize was awarded for:
- creative continuation of the concept of the study from Stage 1 of the Competition, which resulted in interesting solutions in terms of elevation and disposition of internal spaces
- clear structure and tectonics of the building, universal modular exhibition spaces
- a successful composition of two offset longitudinal blocks forming a very good relationship with the National Museum Main Building and creating an attractive space of the entrance square
- clear and restrained form of the project presentation
The Competition Jury's recommendations for the competition work that received the First Prize
- The Competition Jury recommends resigning from lowering the level of the entrance to the Wyspianski Museum below the level of the existing square, in order to better connect the building with its surroundings, especially with the garden. In this connection, it is recommended to analyze the possibility of increasing the height of the building to the acceptable possible parameters.
- The Competition Jury sees no need for movable ceilings in the Wyspianski Museum.
- The competition court shares the opinion on the choice of natural stone as a facade material
façade, but recommends further analysis of the material in adjustment to budgetary and climatic conditions. - The competition court draws attention to the concept of heating the building with ventilation and air-conditioning systems, in which the use of the building's thermal mass to shape the interior climate should be considered.
- The competition court draws attention to the necessity of maintaining the budget regime in further design phases.

Justification of the Jury
The second prize was awarded for:
- architectural form enabling an interesting concept of combining the public spaces of the building with the garden surroundings, the museum forum and the landscape
- the expressive formula of the building's body clad in an undulating "curtain", which is an interesting counterpoint to the monumental museum edifice. The Competition Jury appreciated the idea contained in the study at the first stage of the Competition, including very good solutions in terms of aesthetics, especially in terms of the sensitive design of the gardens, but did not see sufficient development of the Competition work at the second stage of the Competition.
Competition Court's recommendations for the Competition work that received the Second Prize
- The Competition Court recommends reconsidering the location and proportions of the "heart" of the exposition
- The Competition Court recommends varying the height of the exposition spaces and the use of openings and spatial interrelations between the lobby and the exposition spaces where possible
- The Competition Court recommends further work on the facades of the building to make the facade lighter in expression
- It is recommended to provide an exit for cars by a ramp and to abandon the car elevator
- It would be advisable to consider using the thermal mass of the building to shape the interior climate.
- The competition court notes the need to maintain the budget regime in further phases of design
