"10 Questions to an Interior Designer" is a series of short talks inspired by the series "10 Questions to...".This time our attention is turned to interior architects. In today's episode, Aleksandra Bednarska of Bednarska Studio talks about her approach to design.
Aleksandra Bednarska - architect and founder of the author's design studio Bednarska Studio. She graduated from Bialystok University of Technology with a degree in architecture , while she has always known that she would prefer to associate her career with interior design. For the past 4 years she has been running her own company and creating projects all over Poland.
1. home is for me...
A place where, above all, I relax, feel safe, where I like to just be. A place to which I return with pleasure even from the most beautiful vacation. My place in the world.
2 The key to a successful interior design is....
Great organization of the entire design process and good communication between every person involved. I also think that my intuition is important. After analyzing all the data from the client (preference sheet, discussion of inspiration, general needs and requirements, budget), I am able to put everything together and present to the investor exactly what he wanted to get.
3 Setting up my own studio has allowed me to....
More freedom of design and the ability to decide with whom and on what projects I will work. Organization of work in the way that suits me and that I think is the most effective. Also, the opportunity to work remotely.
4. the project that has brought me the most satisfaction so far is.
Project Czestochowa, because it most closely reflects the style to which I am closest. It also resonated quite a bit on the Internet. As a result, I learned that it appealed not only to me and the client, but also to a larger audience.
5 My favorite design style is.
Interiors in the spirit of modernism. On the other hand, I like it when the interior shows the personality of the users. Then there is no question of boredom, duplication of schemes, etc. I like when there is this element of surprise in the interior. Even the simplest idea, the simplest base can become something original through interesting details, color combinations, shapes, the way the material is arranged, etc.
6 The most important item in my home is....
Bed, because sleep and rest plays a very important role in my life.
7. the most common mistake made in self-decoration is....
Lack of planning and awareness that even the smallest change can affect many elements.
8.My favorite material is...
At this moment, steel and chevron, and especially their combination. Cool and austere steel combined with warm elegant chechota is a combination that is very pleasing to my eyes. And so timeless is, of course, natural wood and stone.
9 I chose interior design over architecture because....
I'm definitely closer to interior design, I think it's a completely different kind of design fulfillment. The advantage is also less contact with offices, which can effectively discourage further work. Designing buildings also means greater restrictions on the expression of architecture - if only through building conditions or local plans. On the other hand, I would like to point out that I have not completely abandoned architecture, once in a while I am a co-author of a building design. For example, at the moment we are designing quite an interesting single-family house.
10 I would like, someday to live in....
A place that is slowly being designed. I don't want to reveal too much at the moment, but I hope to be able to present the results in the near future.
