A conversation with architect Jakub Nowopolski of the KONCEPT studio about the unique investment SCENERIA PARKOWA, located in Mały Kack in Gdynia. It is close to Gdynia's Seaside Boulevard, Orlowo beach and Sopot pier. The nature of the Tri-City Landscape Park inspired the architects, hence the large amount of greenery, including rain gardens with hydrophytic plants, recreation areas for residents and interesting elements of small architecture. The two three-story buildings are distinguished by noble finishing materials, unique details, facades in the colors of nature. PARKOWA SCENERY is a residential development combining urban character with respect for the surrounding nature.

What is the main idea of the project, the goal to be achieved?
The main goal to be achieved was to use a rather unusual plot of land in such a way that, with the help of the body of the building, we could create a division into a semi-public, publicly accessible space in the area of service premises, and a semi-private space, intended for residents' recreation, while at the same time making the best possible use of natural sunlight.
What was the inspiration for the project?
In terms of architecture, it was the brick and its ability to create different colors, textures and solutions. The guiding element here is the reference to brick architecture, but with the use of an unusual vertical arrangement of "bricks", emphasizing the vertical parts of the body of the building.
How does the investment fit into the surroundings?
The key was to create a building that would not overwhelm its surroundings with its size, and we managed to do this by splitting the body of the building into two above-ground parts built on a common underground storey. In addition, through the folds of the building and bay windows, it seems to be lighter and in better harmony with the neighborhood.

What elements of the project testify to the high standard?
A large amount of greenery, recreational equipment, small architecture. Materials of high aesthetic and quality qualities such as wall cladding, aluminum showcases, glass balustrades, lighting of the building and surroundings with elements of light illumination. Inside the building - spacious staircases, high apartments, extensive balconies finished with stoneware tiles laid at the level of the floor of the apartments, equipment of apartments and commercial premises with mechanical ventilation.
What are the main advantages of the investment - benefits for residents?
Convenient location, proximity to a variety of services, and at the same time to green areas and the Tri-City Landscape Park, vehicular accessibility of the investment so that it does not significantly interfere with semi-public space available for pedestrians
How was the work on the project, how big was the team, the involvement?
About 20 people worked on the project for more than half a year with great enthusiasm and commitment, not including a strong Investor team.

What materials were used in the project (the most interesting, noble, natural)?
Etastolith wall cladding (cladding similar in texture and color to brick), fiber-cement panels on the first floor of both parts of the building, sheet metal cladding of ceilings and cornices, aluminum and glass balustrades
What solutions were used in the building and on the site: ecological, innovative, certificates, economic solutions, smart?
The project uses so-called rain gardens, which collect rainwater, and hydrophytic plants designed in them use it on site, without burdening the city's rainwater drainage system. For residents and visitors, a fair number of bicycle racks are provided outside the building but also spaces on the underground floor.
What is the idea for the functions of additional common areas for residents - unusual functions - tailored to the investment and its residents, the idea for the interiors of these spaces?
In the recreation area, hills have been designed, which will create an intimate space for relaxation, and at the same time will be an additional attraction for children, and at the same time will be used for the foundation of off-road slides.
