On January 31 this year we got to know the results of a two-stage studyand implementation competition for the conceptual design of a concert hall building together with the development of the New Market Square in Plock. By the decision of the Competition Jury, chaired by Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak, the first prize was awarded to the concept of the plus3-architekciteam. Congratulations!
The purpose of the competition organized by the Municipality-Cityof Plock and the Warsaw branch of SARP was to select the best solution in terms of urban planning, architecture, functionality and acoustics for the concert hall building and the development of the New Market Square in Plock. As emphasized in the regulations, the new building and the adjacent square should constitute a complementary whole, create an original and recognizable landmark, and be a business card and the heart of the city.
Five works qualified for the second stage of the competition, from among which the jury selected the winners of the first and third prizes and two honorable mentions.
1st prize
The first prize and an invitation to negotiate a sole-source contract for the development of design documentation being a detailed elaboration of the competition work was won by the plus3-architekci team consisting of: Katarzyna Głażewska, Krzysztof Bagiński, Grażyna Woźniak-Głażewska, Jadwiga Trzeciakowska and: Magdalena Mularzuk, Małgorzata Zagłoba, Mateusz Dąbek, Patryk Rosiński and Bolesław Rybałtowski (intern).

The award was given for:
Characteristic and expressive architecture of the building being a clear sign in the structure of the city. Attractive facade proposal in the form of wavy vertical elements. Building attractive and appropriate to the rank of the object public interiors. Interior architecture of concert and chamber music halls. Attractive proposal of forming the body of the building leveling the dominant central part of the object. Clear functional layout. Proper connections with the passage and Tumska Street. Pro-ecological solutions. Skillful organization of arranged greenery referring to the nearby parks.
3rd prize
Third place was won by architects from the Maciej Kuryłowicz Architekt studio, composed of: Maciej Kuryłowicz and Marcin Hyżyński.

The award was given for:
A clear link between the Vuka Karadica Passage and the southern square of the Market Square, allowing the continuation of the urban walking route along Tumska Street. The ingenious solution of the "amphitheater" adjacent to the concert hall from the south. Distinctive architecture of the building with a dynamic expressive body and an interesting detail of the facade - referring to the organ pipes. Attractive atmosphere of the concert hall interior.
honors
Honorable mention went to the team of architects consisting of: Kacper Guranowski, Michał Ruman, Piotr Rożniecki and Michał Koziej for:
an accurate proposal for the location of the concert hall building in the central part of the New Market, distinguishing three public spaces while maintaining spatial connections between them and properly capturing the scale of the city, especially the historic urbanand architectural layout. The composition of three illuminated volumes creates an object with an intimate, egalitarian, yet very contemporary and friendly character.

Honorable mention also went to designers from Maćków Pracownia Projektowa office, consisting of: Zbigniew Maćków, Anna Okoń, Magdalena Pierucka, Eliasz Matula and Przemysław Skwarek for:
an interesting proposal for an autonomous, homogeneous architecturaland urban layout that produces city-forming spaces, providing potential for use for a variety of functions and scenarios. The proper grasp of the urban scale of the designed buildings was appreciated, along with an interesting reference to the non-existent historical form of the former horseshoe-shaped butcheries. Appreciated was the consistently applied, architecturally attractive theme of slender arcades and the quality of designed interiors.
