Multi-functional apartment with a view|PdD

The apartment in Warsaw's Powiśle district was to combine the functionality of an office with homely elegance. The task was undertaken by architects from the JM STUDIO ARCHITEKTONICZNE.

A haven of its own

The investor is a businessman who, because of his work, is often in Warsaw. After years of sleeping in hotels, he wanted an elegant, luxurious space that would be both a comfortable home and office, as well as a place for business meetings. For this reason, the apartment had to be in a good location. He chose Powiśle district and an apartment on the top floor. It has a beautiful view of the trees on the Vistula escarpment and the Pałac Kultury i Nauki.

Open space

Originally, the 80-square-meter apartment was divided into more smaller rooms. So Magdalena Ignaczak and Jacek Kunca decided to redesign it thoroughly. The layout of the rooms was changed, partition walls were demolished, suspended ceilings disappeared. Installations were also rearranged, and above all the air-conditioning system, which in many places caused the ceiling to be lowered by 50 cm. It was possible to reclaim this space by using ducted radiators, which have a cooling function in the summer. Thanks to all these measures, the living room became one large 40-square-meter room.

Looking at the greenery

The arrangement was meant to be casual, even a bit nonchalant. The owner also wanted to expose the view outside the window. The interior was kept in a timeless subdued color scheme of bleached, soft grays. They are complemented by white walls. However, there is no lack of strong accents. Anthracite-colored elements appear throughout the apartment, as well as ethno and loft-style accents. Note the distinctive furniture, an Indonesian table made from a giant teak root, a sofa made from water hyacinth shoots, and strong graphic chairs and metal lamps. Everything is complemented by paintings specially made for this interior.
