Professor Witold Czarnecki - long-time dean and doyen of the Faculty of Architecture at the Bialystok University of Technology - passed away on March 23, 2023.
Professor Witold Czarnecki was born in 1927. He was a soldier of the Home Army who, after forced labor in Kaluga, returned to Poland in 1945. He graduated with a degree in engineering in 1952 and received his master's degree from the Gdansk University of Technology in 1954. He continued to work in Pomerania until 1960. Professor Czarnecki was the man who shaped the emerging Faculty of Architecture at the Bialystok University of Technology. Prior to that, he was employed as an associate professor and professor at the Institute of Architecture, which was later transformed into a Faculty.
Professor Witold Czarnecki was the author and co-author of designs for more than seventy architectural and urban planning structures. He compiled more than one hundred scientific articles, papers and dissertations. He was an active member of the program council of the Sleńdzinski Gallery in Bialystok. He received the title of Honorary Professor of the Bialystok University of Technology.

The funeral service will be held at the Christ the King Church in Bialystok on March 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be followed by the removal of the urn to the cemetery in Starosielce, on Priest Grzybowski Street.
In accordance with the wishes of the Next of Kin, it has been requested not to bring flowers. As part of the commemoration, it was proposed to support selected social causes or the Sleńdzinski Gallery, an institution close to Professor Witold Czarnecki.
