A premiere with huge creative potential:
Artemide 2021 novelties at the Supersalone fair in Milan
A successful start to autumn: at the Supersalone fair in Milan, Artemide impressed with design innovations and brilliant lighting objects. The Italian lighting fixture manufacturer showed innovation at several exhibition sites in the design metropolis. The centerpiece of the event - in addition to the exhibition grounds, the Artemide showroom and a special exhibition in honor of Ernesto Gismondi - was the newly opened Exhibition Center at the Pregnana Milanese headquarters.
The exhibition center was designed by Mario Cucinella Architects. The ever-changing exhibition allows visitors to experience light in all its imaginative diversity - and reflects the great expertise of this traditional Italian company in lighting research. The visionary lighting ideas embody Artemide's philosophy and demonstrate how design, craftsmanship, sustainability and progressive technology come together in a unique symbiosis.
Artemide has been one of the pioneers of modern lighting design for more than 60 years. The company's vision:"The Human Light" - light as an enrichment of human life and well-being. To realize its forward-looking goals, the company is constantly in creative dialogue with experts, designers and planners. In this way, renowned architects such as Bjarke Ingels Group(BIG), Foster + Partners, Herzog & de Meuron, Davide Oppizzi, Alexander Bellmann and, of course, Mario Cucinella shape the current world of Artemide products. This is where sophisticated aesthetics, extensive expertise and intensive research come together. As is the case with the new products for 2021.
One of this year's highlights, for example, is the Tolomeo INTEGRALIS®. The lamp combines the iconic shape of a classic with patented INTEGRALIS® technology. This is a striking lighting solution that works against pathogenic microorganisms and thus disinfects the illuminated environment. At the same time, the technology provides efficient lighting and the highest quality color rendering. The result is a revolutionary lighting solution for use in workplaces.
Finding new uses for light is as much a part of the company's philosophy as the topic of sustainability. Artemide stands for"The Human and Responsible Light." The company wants to enrich people's lives while conserving resources and considering light's impact on the environment. In addition to bold design and visionary technology, the central themes of each project are energy efficiency, sustainability, use of materials and continuous advances in lighting technology. The company's sustainability balance sheet is regularly measured and published in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. In this way, Artemide stays true to its high standards of combining good light with people's needs and caring for a better future.

Katà Métron
The collaboration between Mario Cucinella and Artemide has resulted in the Katà Métron lighting system, a "right middle ground" that combines minimalism, aesthetics and functionality. The aluminum profiles of the modular lighting system feature Artemide's Sharp Refractive technology, which is characterized by maximum efficiency and reduction of glare. The modules can be universally connected - linearly, at right angles or 45°. Inspired by the well-known Lego principle, the blocks can be freely arranged into individual constructions that fit any room, shape or dimension. Depending on the color scheme, in white, black, blue, yellow, green and red, Katà Métron is a resource-saving lighting solution for offices as well as schools and kindergartens.

Funivia
Funivia by Carlotta de Bevilacqua offers maximum flexibility in lighting design. Like the gondolas of a cable car, the spotlights and pendant elements of the modular lighting system float in a room on a copper cable. The cable serves to distribute energy and acts as a load-bearing element. It is equipped with lamps such as A.24, Vector and Sharp, which are already part of the Artemide collection - a synergy in the spirit of sustainability. The individual elements are fixed, and the current is drawn through special bridge elements that make contact with the poles by means of spikes. If the luminaire is moved, the flexible and durable Kevlar polyethylene cover closes automatically. This ensures that Funivia remains flexible even after initial installation. Each light fixture can be individually controlled via the Artemide app. With this project, Carlotta de Bevilacqua pays tribute to her late husband Ernesto Gismondi: for the Artemide founder, riding a roller coaster was always a special experience during her childhood.

El Porís
Simple lines and impressive size characterize the modern El Porís chandelier designed by Herzog & de Meuron: three calendered circular steel tubes with a perimeter that increases from top to bottom are connected by four vertical supports, creating a cone-shaped structure. The diameter of the lower ring is 1.2 meters, the height of the chandelier is almost 1.5 meters. Despite the simple geometric lines, El Porís looks striking and expressive. Each of the three levels is equipped with four bulbs of your choice for traditional E27 sockets.

The growing Gople family
Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has a long-standing partnership with Artemide and presented numerous innovations at Supersalone. With the Gople Portable, the lamp family has gained a mobile addition. The portable lamp also features dim-to-warm technology, which takes into account the human biological and sleep rhythms, adjusting the color components according to the time of day.
The innovative Gople system follows the iconic design language of the Gople family and brings the popular lamp shape to the rail. The system can be equipped with Gople spots with different beam angles and pendant elements for focused lighting. In particular, the combination with the Alphabet of Light (AoL) system creates interesting constellations. While AoL's diffused lighting fills a room with excitement, the Gople System spots put clear lighting accents. Gople Outdoor is available as a floor, pendant or freestanding fixture for outdoor use. Power is provided by an extra-long cable with a moisture-resistant IP plug. With its myriad application possibilities, Gople Outdoor is a great companion for an atmospheric evening outdoors.

Stellar Nebula
Following the success of the Gople family, BIG rededicates itself to the traditional craft of glass blowing with the Stellar Nebula. The body of the lamp is blown into a mold and, when finished, reheated in a furnace until the crystal glass is nearly melted and produces the individual, natural shape that makes each lamp unique. A dichroic metal finish is then applied in a vacuum , which is never the same. When turned on, the Stellar Nebula resembles an iridescent soap bubble; when turned off, the body of the fixture appears transparent. This effect is achieved in a sustainable and emission-free process using only 5% solvent, while conventional processes use 75%. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovative techniques produces a special perception of light. Stellar Nebula is available in three sizes, corresponding to 12, 18 and 24 watts.

Slicing
In the new Slicing family of lamps, BIG refers to the Gople silhouette. The lamp's cover is formed by aluminum slats around the perimeter. They are connected to each other by a flexible wire, so the lamp can be folded flat for transport and requires little packaging. Contributing to the sustainable use of materials are the different sizes of the six versions, which are available as pendant, wall and floor lamps and can be used both indoors and outdoors. Sophisticated Slicing provides pleasantly soft, glare-free light for moments of relaxation and intimate gatherings. Especially outdoors, the lamp is characterized by low light pollution.

Vine Light
Another new product created by BIG is the Vine Light: a new generation of workplace lighting. With its sophisticated functionality and minimalist design, this lamp is reminiscent of iconic Artemide designs such as Tolomeo, Demetra and Tizio. But in its apparent simplicity, thanks to its masterful workmanship, it once again sets new standards: the lamp head and base are designed as not completely closed rings of the same diameter. The base serves as a static counterweight. The head is made of lightweight magnesium alloy for reliable stability. The material hardly gets hot. This means that the fixture head can be touched and turned in any direction at any time. The specially designed lens and integrated touch dimmer allow you to adjust the lighting individually. Vine Light provides maximum freedom of movement with only two joints. Like all optoelectronic components, they are invisibly encapsulated in the body of the luminaire. The clear and extremely slim design of just 16 mm in diameter was created through technical virtuosity combined with timeless design. Vine Light encourages direct interaction with light. It is available as a table, floor and wall lamp.

Alphabet of Light Outdoor
With Alphabet of Light Outdoor, BIG is expanding Artemide's highly successful lighting system. In the new addition to AoL, light is emitted only downward, largely avoiding light pollution. Interestingly, the ring-shaped element can be opened, arranged around a tree trunk and closed again. In this way, Alphabet of Light Outdoor magically highlights trees along paths in parks and alleys.

Needoo
Needoo by Davide Oppizzi contributes to increasing biodiversity in urban green spaces. A 66 percent decline in the number of bird species in these areas is to be expected if appropriate preventive measures are not taken. Needoo creates species-specific nesting opportunities for birds, small mammals and some insects using a proven material such as compressed wood cement. The size and shape of the entrance hole determine which species will find a home in it. At the same time, the lamp reduces the negative impact on the biorhythm and orientation of the fauna thanks to controlled light controlled by sensors. Three modules can be combined: lamp-pot, lamp-pot and sockets without light. For the Needoo project , Oppizzi and Artemide are collaborating with the NGOBirdlife.

Nottola
The Nottola outdoor lamp by Alexander Bellmann was originally designed for the conversion of a historic building in Milan. But at the same time, it unobtrusively blends into any modern setting. The filigree metal frame symbolizes the traditional lantern and encloses the modern lamp module. It diffuses the light, giving a particularly delicate play of light and shadow. This pendant lamp looks best in curves.
