"Best Interior Diploma 2020/2022".
My main assumption while working on the project to revitalize the building of the former Wroclaw-Strachocin airport and transform it into a model of a General Aviation airport was to create a luxurious oasis of calm. The designed space had to be both practical, easy to perceive and functional.

As a result of analyzing the experience map of potential users, I conventionally divided the available space into the following zones: entrance, catering, relaxation, entertainment, two suites, business center, airport office center, luxury car showroom and technical part, i.e. catering facilities, and customs control office.

Theentrance area is a combination of a lobby with reception and concierge services. Since such processes as customs clearance, baggage control and baggage transport take place without the traveler's participation, I was able to design the area in a way closer to a hotel model than an airport one.

The main design assumption related to creating the interior of a private airport was that the space must not resemble a public building, and must be devoid of the typical airport atmosphere. Taking advantage of this fact, I created the lobby as the main compositional element, determining in subsequent stages the functional layout of the entire airport.

The focal point in the entrance area is the stairs, which, in addition to their main communicative function, are a kind of sculpture. Their flowing shape is a kind of reference to the flight line of an airplane. All openwork solutions, both those surrounding the stairs on both sides and those on the perimeter of the skylight above the lobby, are an artistic reference to the construction of a jet engine.

TheVIP Lounge is the space where passengers spend most of their time while waiting for their flight. It is formed by nine secluded lounge areas. This space, thanks to the local glazing of the ceiling and its location along the building's panoramic façade, provides a view of the runway and the apron, which enriches the wait for a flight with an unforgettable visual experience.

Another space is the relaxation area. The main idea here was to move away from the vision of a typical relaxation area that we see in public facilities these days. My concept is a space that appears as an oasis of calm - a return to nature and spiritual contact. I wanted the potential viewer to be able to escape from the rush of life and spend a moment in absolute seclusion without feeling insecure.

The resulting concept was that of a "cocoon" - an individual space that subtly blends into the whole airport. Its construction, based on the multiplication along the perimeter of stainless steel profiles formed in the shape of curved lines, creates a stable base thanks to the main material, as well as direct mounting to a platform made of hemp concrete.

The potential viewer, crossing the threshold of the airport, is supposed to feel pleasantly surprised and encouraged to explore the facility. These created feelings are a reference to the emotions that accompany us when we travel, but are to be experienced in a calm environment, reminiscent of nature. Hence the idea to include trees and water in the interior, acting as a stress reliever.
