In search of a male asylum

25 of January '24

For months Jakub searched for the perfect apartment that would meet all his expectations both in terms of functionality and adaptation to his individual work rhythm. When the time came to furnish the chosen space, he entrusted the interior concept to the well-known Warsaw design agency JAM KOLEKTYW.

The owner's high standards included a number of specific requirements. An open, light-filled space with a work zone and a separate, enclosed private zone - these needs were crucial for Anna Olga Chmielewska, who was responsible for the interior design.

The apartment is maintained in a smoky palette of concrete, aged oak, olive grays and unobvious shades, characteristic of JAM KOLEKTYW projects. The colors of the interior change depending on the time of day. In the morning, the sun's rays warm the concrete walls with delicate reflections, and the olive grays take on warm, pleasant tones. At noon, oak elements show off their natural textures. In the evening, when artificial light begins to dominate the apartment, the entire color palette takes on a mysterious depth, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and tranquility.

For the owner, it turned out to be important to create a comfortable workspace in the central part of the apartment. Unlike a traditional study, the home office was designed in the living area, behind the eye-catching geometric shape of the library. In terms of work comfort, Jakub did not want to decide on any compromise. As he himself admits, he spends many hours at his desk every day. The furniture in the work area was therefore custom-made according to JAM KOLEKTYW's design. They accommodated not only three monitors, but also all the necessary electronic equipment.

The work area of JAM KOLEKTYW was perfectly combined with the living area, which is dominated by two comfortable sofas from NOBONOBO, one of the favorite Polish brands of interior designers. The color scheme of this furniture gives the apartment a unique mood. The brown-rustic upholstery, combined with the rest of the color palette used in the interior, brings to mind the artistic composition for which the studio's designs are famous. Works by Zdzislaw Beksinski, the owner's favorite artist, found their place in the interior. Jacob's dream was also to create a spacious kitchen with a dining room, where he could prepare dinners for family, friends and acquaintances.

In the private area, the interior designers suggested darker tones in wall colors and decorative details. Also the bathroom was designed in a slightly dark, moody atmosphere. Unusual double doors, leading to both bedrooms, were surrounded by deep graphite doorframes on one side, and harmoniously hidden in the line of built-in closets on the other. In the entrance hall, attention is drawn to the mirrored surface of the closet door, which reflects the surrounding space in an unusual way. This is one of the many unconventional concepts of JAM COLLECTIVES, aimed at an original end to the long corridor.
