Roca One Day Design Challenge - test your creativity

In 2020, the International Design Competition organized by Roca will already be present in 20 cities and 18 countries around the world. Participants will once again take on the design challenge. Their task will be to present an innovative solution for the bathroom space in just one day. In 2019, the competition received the prestigious "Red dot" award and in 2020 the "If design award" in the category: communication.

Organizer and competition task

"Roca One Day Design Challenge" initiated by the global brand Roca, a leader in the bathroom sector challenges you to create original solutions and innovative concepts for the bathroom space, in just one day! The competition is designed for design and architecture students, young professionals under the age of 30.

The competition task will be on an issue concerning the bathroom space, and the assumptions, will be announced on the morning of the competition day. The biggest challenge for participants will be the pressure of time. Each participant will be able to design alone or in a group (max. 2 people). The most important criteria that will guide the members of the Jury will be: originality, design and usability values of the concept.

Registration

The online registration period will last until March 25, 2020. Participants, can also register in person on site on Saturday morning at IWP from 9.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. The competition task and its objectives will be announced at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28.20 From then on, participants fighting against time can design until 4.00 p.m. Jury deliberations and the results announcement ceremony will then take place around 6.30 p.m.

The 3rd edition of the "Roca One Day Design Challenge" in Poland will be held at the Institute of Industrial Design on Saturday, March 28, 2020. One of the most exciting competitions is to be the best of the competitions for young designers and architects around the world.

Jury

The Jury for the second edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge in Poland will include professionals and personalities from the world of architecture and design: Oskar Zięta - a prominent designer and owner of Zieta Prozessdesign, Krystyna Rzehak - Creative Director of IWP, the oldest Polish institution dealing with design, Marta Sękulska-Wrońska - President of the Warsaw Branch of SARP, member of the SARP Competition Judges College and Mazovian Chamber of Architects, prof. Michal Stefanowski designer of the INNO+NPD office, and Head of the Department of Design at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and Marketing Director Joanna Dec-Galuk.

Jury

Awards and international expansion

The first prize in the 2nd Polish edition of the competition will be €1,000, the second prize of €700 and the third prize of €400, in addition, the Jury may award an additional prize of €400 to the Wa Are Water Foundation for a project that highlights the theme of sustainability in an interesting way.

The competition has an international character. The first edition was held in Spain in 2012, but the competition aims to expand internationally. Last year, it was held in 14 cities around the world: Katowice (Poland), Sofia (Bulgaria), Lisbon (Portugal), Moscow (Russia), London (UK), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Shanghai and Beijing (China), Muscat (Oman), Barcelona and Madrid (Spain), Dubai (Emirates), Singapore and Hong Kong.

Institutional support

Institutional patronage for the event was provided by the Institute of Industrial Design and the Association of Architects of the Republic of Poland, Warsaw branch.
