The A+Awards competition is organized by the American Architizer portal. It is one of the largest international competitions aimed at promoting the best architecture, urban spaces, projects and products of the year. Submitted works are judged by an international jury of more than 500 experts from various fields, including:
- architecture - Julian Weyer (CF Møller), Annabelle Selldorf (Selldorf Architects), Gary Handel (Handel Architects), Carol Ross Barney (Ross Barney Architects), Winy Maas (MVRDV),
- interior architecture - Andrew Cogan (Knoll), Cheryl Durst (IIDA), David Rockwell (Rockwell Group), Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost (Dominique Perrault Architecture),
- technology and innovation - Carlos Banon (AIRLAB SUTD), Neri Oxman (MIT Media Lab), Yves Behar (Fuseproject), Sydney Mainster (The Durst Organization).
The submitted projects compete in more than 100 categories, including not only architecture, but also as yet unrealized projects, design, innovative materials and products. In the first stage, the jury selected five finalists from each category, and will announce the winners on August 4 this year.
Internet users can also vote for their own favorites until July 31 on the competition website.

polish project in the finals of the competition
This year in the Unbuilt Commercial category, alongside four other entries, was the project titled Factory Full of Life, developed by the ANALOG office. The concept of the team consisting of: Piotr Śmierzewski, Michał Czeszejko-Sochacki, Artur Górski, Igor Klyus and Rafał Śliwa won last year's international competition for the final design of the new Dąbrowa Górnicza Center.
The architects proposed that some of the industrial halls be demolished and the most valuable ones be restored, rebuilt and adapted for new service and commercial functions. The existing buildings will be supplemented with new buildings with service and residential functions with commercial space located in the first floors of the buildings. The concept assumes neutrality of functional solutions, which, by leaving functionally undefined spaces, will allow residents to decide for themselves how to use them. You can find more information about the project here.
Last year, the winner in the XL single-family building category was the Quadrant House designed by KWK Promes by Robert Konieczny. The project also received a special mention from the jury.
