Online exhibitions and more, or May attractions in Gdynia

14 of May '20

Slowly, cultural institutions in Poland are preparing to reopen to the public (you can read more about it here). Although the Museum of the City of Gdynia is still closed, it is thriving in the virtual space. For the second half of May, the Gdynia museum has prepared events for all ages - exhibitions and online workshops combining the city's history, architecture and educational value.

On May 16 and 23 at 5pm there will be another edition of the "Accessible Saturday" event, during which the museum hosts people with impaired access to culture. For the outbreak, which does not allow to carry out the educational offer in normal conditions, the organizers have prepared a journey through the history of the city and the exhibition "Gdynia - an open work" in Polish Sign Language! The class is led by Joanna Olejnik, a Polish Sign Language teacher.

On May 19 at 18:00 a musical workshop will begin with Gdynia bassist Tomasz Przyborowicz (among others Bernard Dornowski Ex-CzerwoneGitary) dedicated to a four-string instrument: the bass guitar. This will be an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the instrument, feel the urge to develop your musical talents in low bass tones and listen to stories about the instrument.

On May 20 and 27 at 12:00 there will be short guided tours of the "Gdynia - Tel Aviv" exhibition led by Olga Lewandowska of the Gdynia City Museum Education Center. The exhibition will be presented through the aspect of selected objects, whose history is often as fascinating as the fate of both cities!

On May 30 at 11:00 a .m., a family workshop on creating books in an eco-friendly way will begin.

For those who are thirsty for a visit to the Museum of the City of Gdynia, virtual tours of exhibitions realized together with Cultural Gdynia - Department of Culture of the City of Gdynia are an ideal solution.
