The Medical University of Silesia (SUM), in cooperation with the Katowice branch of the Association of Polish Architects, has announced an implementation competition for the development of an urban planning and architectural concept for the Pediatric and Oncology Physiotherapy Center in Katowice-Ligota.

purpose

The purpose of the competition, as it reads in the regulations, is to obtain the best architectural, spatial and functional-utility urban-architectural concept for the new Pediatric and Oncological Physiotherapy Center within Medyków Street in Katowice-Ligota.

terms and conditions

The competition is an implementation competition, limited, two-stage.

In the first stage, participants submit studies, and in the second stage - competition works.

The building is to become a unique in the country facility combining the function of day rehabilitation for small patients with a didactic function in the field of rehabilitation (for students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the SUM in Katowice). Part of the facility must meet the conditions of a medical entity.

The form and internal organization of the facility are not imposed, but potential nuisances resulting from different functions should be balanced in the design. There should be two independent entrances to the facility - for patients and caregivers, and for students, employees and facility staff. Communication spaces in the facility will also be dedicated to additional recreational and therapeutic functions, and local areas for rest, play, study and waiting should be provided. The center's location among greenery should be used as an asset to allow therapeutic contact with nature.

Around the site, there should be 10 parking spaces for patients, a minimum of 30 parking spaces for other users and 2 bus stands, as well as a therapeutic path for patients and their families. The path should be paved and equipped with landscaping.
