Swiss family-owned furniture design and manufacturing company Vitra has released a free documentary on the history of chairs.
Over the years, the company has collaborated with such designers as Charles and Ray Eames (authors of the famous Vitra footstool chair and the fashionable Fiberglass chair models, among others), Norman Foster (designer of the famousairport waiting areas of AIRLINE seats), Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron (whose design was used to create a carved wooden stool), or Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa (authors of a stylized bench in the shape of flower petals).

The great architects designed not only furniture for Vitra, but also buildings (including Álvaro Siza, Tadao Ando, Zaha Hadid) and a private design museum - Vitra Design Museum, which was Frank Gehry 's first project in Europe.

The film "Chair Times" features 125 objects from the museum's collection, which chronologically show the development of chair design from 1807 to the latest pieces straight from a 3D printer. You can see the documentary, directed by Heinz Bütler, in its entirety here.
