In Berlin, neighbors together, from their windows, watch movies projected on the wall of one of the townhouses. Italians hold balcony concerts and mini feasts, clinking glasses on specially constructed "hoists." In Poland, we paint pictures together. During the pandemic, artists get bored - and out of this boredom, this stillness, the "Your Movement" campaign was born.
We have already written about balcony art on the occasion of the Modern Museum in Warsaw's "Artists in Quarantine" project . In the case of Filip Ćwik, co-founder of Studio 810, and painter Urszula Niemirska, it is more like window art. On a daily basis, the artists are neighbors, living in Saska Kępa. This neighborhood inspired them to create a "window" performance.
On May 10, in a square on Elsterska Street, the artists launched the Your Movement action. They used the familiar motif from children's movies, among others, of a neighborhood correspondence, intended for those who are grounded and don't leave the house. Although a quarantine is not a barrier it is governed by similar laws. Filip Ćwik and Urszula Niemirska connected their studios with ropes, through which they sent each other canvases. Both of them had 40 minutes to create a painting - after that time the rope went in motion again. In this way, six canvases of joint authorship were created that day.
Artists can make material for art out of any situation. Thus, isolation became a new creative impulse.
