Another edition of the International Architecture Biennale is behind us! On October 13 and 14, the future of architecture and cities, sustainable development and the future of young architects were discussed at the ICE Krakow Congress Center.
Recover, or reclaim, was the motto of this year's International Architecture Biennale in Krakow. During the two days, the ICE Congress Center was filled with architects and architects, professionals and specialists in cities, politics, landscape, nature, energy and society, to discuss together what it really means to reclaim the city for the people.
The event was assisted by numerous volunteers

to whom does the city belong?
The beginning of the Biennale was the start of a wide-ranging discussion about the slogan of recovery and reclaiming cities - this discussion was initiated at the Urban Roundtable, which was moderated by Architecture&Business editor-in-chief Malgorzata Tomczak and Open Eyes Economy Summit program board member Tomasz Janowski.
TheUrban Roundtable became a place for the exchange of experiences between specialists from a wide spectrum of fields: through politicians, political scientists, economists, architects and architects to landscape specialists. The experience of these discussions was the initiation of an open, interdisciplinary discussion about the city.

During the biennial, the topic of rediscovering rivers - understanding its impact on not only the creation of places for recreation and leisure, but the real need to return to the water - once again emerged in the discussion space.
On the first, the Awards Gala was also held, during which Crosses of Merit, Badges "For Merit to the Construction Industry", "Honoris Gratia" and the Cracow SARP Award for architectural work were awarded. The same evening also saw the Gala Presentation of Architecture Salon Awards of the Malopolska District Chamber of Architects.

local context - global context
The second day of the biennial hosted a synergy of thinking about global issues and local context. During the keynote speakers, we were able to hear about problems and solutions in architecture and urbanism from around the world. From Dutch Almere, post-factory Lodz, the search for a new function for Wesola or the experience of architecture from the perspective of Kengo Kuma's office.
14 also featured a unique event, architectural speed dating - where event participants could discuss with the speakers. Only 3 minutes were allowed for each conversation.
