Mínus material: durable, recyclable and affordable

05 of March '25

Leading Czech urban furniture manufacturer mmcité has teamed up with young, progressive company Plastic Guys. Together they have developed and tested a new recycled material called Mínus, which is suitable for outdoor use. The material transforms waste such as fishing nets, keyboards, refrigerators, televisions and packaging. This reduces the amount of plastic going into furnaces and a lower carbon footprint in public spaces.

Recycled plastic has become part of our portfolio alongside other materials such as metal, concrete and wood. We've been looking for a long time for an alternative that will repeatedly transform what seems to be no longer needed,

says David Karásek, CEO and chief designer of mmcité.

We are also pleased with the active and fresh approach of this young brand. We are watching them grow, and we are happy to help them open new doors to a new sector,

Karásek adds.

We developed and tested the Mínus material together with mmcité for more than a year. Today we know that it is durable enough and will withstand all seasons. We are now expanding our production line, which will allow us to produce recycled plastic sheets in the largest format in the world. And in addition, they can be recycled again. This will help us achieve affordability, which will allow us to replace other materials with Mínus panels at a comparable price

says Ondřej Venclík of Plastic Guys.

Currently, the material is available in product collections Morse, Morse Dot and Orbit, which provide comfortable seating for city streets. mmcité plans to gradually expand the material into existing collections and introduce new products to be unveiled this year.

Mínus material

Less plastic. Less carbon footprint. Polluted streets. Burnt stuff. A material called Mínus transforms fishing nets, keyboards or televisions into recycled panels suitable for public spaces.

It's a durable, re-cyclable and affordable thermoplastic, available in three color options. Mínus Black and Mínus White have subtle contrasting dots to the base color. Mínus Onyx gently transmits natural light or additional illumination. The material is available in glossy and matte finishes. After a period of time, it can be recycled or sanded again to restore a fresh look. In addition, we offer a variety of panel thicknesses, from 5 to 25 mm, providing a wide range of applications.
