What should a modern school be like? Much is changing in Polish education, but one thing still remains the same - every school must have classrooms.
In plus3-architects' design, all the rooms for active learning face east or west except for the IT classrooms, deliberately placed in the northern part of the building.
Destroyed desks, crumbling chairs, artificially divided classrooms - you won't see that in a high school on Wesola Street. The designers decided to create a school whose overall "useful life" will not quickly expire. That's why the classrooms are composed of small modules measuring 3.1m x 7.8m, which can be used to create classrooms of different sizes - for example, two classrooms of three modules can be made into three smaller classrooms. In addition, there will be "function walls" between classrooms and corridors, creating not only benches and seating in the corridor, but also lockers or other spaces inside classrooms.
On the patio at recess
An interesting idea is to create a patio - an inter-classroom breathing zone where you can have a second breakfast or enjoy the beautiful weather. Nearby is the cafeteria, open to the school's inner courtyard. A similar space will be created by an auditorium located on the second floor. Placed in close proximity to the checkroom, filled with a variety of seating - it will be an ideal meeting place not only for students, but, for example, for their parents who come to a meeting or school performance.
The architects also did not forget about the gymnasium - in their design set away from the main part of the building. This allowed them to create an arcade - a meeting space, an "outdoor waiting room". This is where peri-school life will develop.
The high school of the plus3-architectsproject will be a school for students - in the literal sense of the word. May there be more of these!
